My apologies for having to break this into two parts, but it ended up being pretty long. On that note, here's part one of finishing the Damascus keyhole integral Serbian chef's knife. Such a challenging build.

I think your fit up method is actually better than Salem's. Makes sense to me to chamfer the wood, not the steel, but both methods obviously work. It's also clear that this is about the most fiddly handle to make, so kudos for even trying it!

Probably not super critical, but you can square up the tool rest to the platen without the belt on, I think its a little more reliable when you're looking for daylight between your square and the platen

When I do the initial squaring, I do it without a belt on. It is definitely a bit easier to see what’s going on.
