I never really comment on videos, but I want to say "thank you" for what you do. I know a while back you had the option of turning this into a show on TV (I believe), and I'm so glad you chose to stick with what you are doing. Like you said at the time, this way you don't need to compromise your build quality. I'm also glad that you do the work with humility and run your channel without "manufactured drama" like so many others do (stupid, unrealistic deadlines, scripted problems, and dumb storylines). It just goes to show you that when good work is done, its interesting and entertaining to follow without the bloat and fakeness.

Jack, I agree 100%, I feel like if they would have gone the cable tv route it would have been turned into a "wannabe monster garage" type show, which I know for a fact none of Rich's followers, nor Rich as far as I can tell, would ever want. We all stick around for the relatability, realism, and quality content. I hope Rich and the whole deboss family stay doing things the "old fashioned" way (so to speak), and keep putting out that quality content that we have all come to know and love 💜

Rich, your attention to detail is unmatched. I used to restore old tractors, I understand put 'em together, take 'em apart. My friends all thought I was nuts. But damn, they looked and ran great. They really thought I was nuts when I'd take one out farming. But, that's what they were for. Sincerely, thanks for these videos and as usual, best regards from Indiana, USA.
@randr102 жыл бұрын
Like you said, they were meant to do work, so why not run them in the field? If you keep them cleaned up when you're done working them and park them inside rather than leave them sit outside and rot in the sun and rain they'll still stay pretty pristine looking for a long time even with fairly heavy use.

Even if all he did was throw that engine in there, slap an oil gauge under the dash and drive it like that with nothing else working and it's full of dents and old scratched paint. If it started and moved down the road-- its' still LEGIT!. It's still a 4x4 Ford with a Cat engine.. So idk, you'll have to make an example of a "hack job"--- because anything that works is a win in my book.. I guess we just don't think the same.

Hi Rich, I would do the coil spring swap which is the suspension out of the 05-16 Super Duties. 2010 axles would be best, and those are 4 wheel disc brakes and you can get them with 3.55 gearing. 3.55 gears would come out of a truck with axle code 3J. The 05-09 axles have 3.73s, not to say that you couldn’t change the gears out if you wanted to. A bunch of companies make cool buckets that can be installed on the frame. Absolutely love this project!

SUSPENSION ADVICE I believe you should have a Dana 60 ball joint up front and a Sterling 10.25 on rear, which is basically a Dana 70 and you can get disc brake conversion for it. these are plenty strong for what you want to do. you can add traction bars in the back to avoid axle wrap. you can also get some new leafs with a few inches of lift in the front to level the truck if the motor is too heavy for the ones you have now. hope this helps Rich! people also just swap in super duty suspensions in obs trucks but thats way more expensive and requires loads of more work.

Since you asked, my take on the springs: I'd stick with stock leaf springs, myself. Unless you're going to be driving it a ton, is the extra comfort worth all the extra farting around?
