What RPM are you running when you start and ends with a bale? Also what is your ground speed? I have the same baler and the pick-up plugs all the time. Thank you.

I don't run the baler at pto speed. Engine RPM is usually 1,600 to 1,800. Ground speed I'm not sure of because I don't have the chart infront of me but on the 1066 I run 1H with the TA back. If the windrow is really heavy I will ease into it when starting a new bale, once the bale is established it will usually pull in about as much as you can throw at it. I've plugged the pickup many a time. Never fun having to dig it out. Thanks for watching!

It hates short grass, we have one 540 on my tractor is 2k run it at 1500. 2.9 start, and 3.9 once I can see it start to turn inside or if to dusty I can see some tension on the wire that lifts the bale meter. I always stop when I see it spitting back out till it stops, I have gotten to where if the field is in question I will rake a little crazy so I have a place to start bales if there is large amounts of short areas.

I have the same baler just but a new chain on it and have tried running 50 psi and your bales still look better what are you doing different. I’m new to this so any info would help! Thanks

I run the recommended 50 psi in the bags. As long as the chain is adjusted properly there isn't anything different about the baler. When I start a bale I always crowd the edges heavily to get a good tight center. As I bale I move from side to side. Slower ground speed and higher rpm will make a tighter bale but I know I never get near 540 pto rpm. I also double wrap the bale with twine, it seems to help keep a more uniform bale if you have to move them around alot like we do. Hope this helps, and if I have a chance I will make a video on setting up the baler but sadly I don't think we will be baling any more this year. Second cut just isn't doing well.

One more thing I forgot to mention is, listen to the chains and how the rattle. If they are making all kinds of racket, it means your bale is uneven. When your chains are quiet and smooth sounding, you have a good even bale. It takes a while to get the ear for it but once you know, you know. If there is anything more I can help with, let me know and I'll do the best I can!

Yes I appreciate information The old chain broke when I was bailing but only one side broke and ever since we buy the new chain on the big take up arms are slightly different as almost if one side got bent somehow Nothing looks out of place but when you adjust the bolts they are different lengths And the chain bounces almost like it’s being forced through the rollers? Have even looked back before and seen the whole bale going up and down I’ve baled 85 bales since new chain and nothing has broke but something just doesn’t seem right

@@blakericker3248 wow. Never had anything like that happen with ours. Last year we had a cable come undone for one of the guides that supports the chain while the gate is open. You may want to check out my video of replacing the apron chain tube and compare it to yours and see if anything is out of place. Now I am genuinely curious about your issue and am compelled to do some digging. If I find anything I'll be sure to let you know.
