I had a 65 - 6cyn - 200 CI Coupe Blue/Black back in the 80's lots of memories - fun to drive. retired now but will buy one again once I relocate west coast L.V./A.Z./C.A.? white/turquois interior are my favorite interiors. yours coming really nice for a first timer. perhaps you might like to get into cosmetic restorations as a side gig? Mustang is so popular there in C.A. - you lucky most likely this Mustang spend whole life in dry C.A. otherwise those floorboards / rear quarter never survive here in N.Y. - good luck need to watch rest of your series. AAA+++

I remember that some of the repairs I had to do over the years were memorable. After 52 years I have done them several times. I had a similar experience with my speedometer as well and learned to unscrew the gauge cluster to facilitate the speedometer cable installation. It’s looking great!!! Well done!!! P

I would put a headline in it also put new weatherstrips four doors windows and everything it’s a piece of mind. He spent all that money on a nice interior and leave the weather stripping out so it gets wet through when it rains. Also spray the door jams obviously you’re gonna have it white or blue
@VanHoutenBuilds Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the advice! Yes, I have new weatherstripping for everything that I'm going to install. I will probably put a 1 piece headliner in it. Yes when I paint the exterior I'm going to paint the door jams blue to match the exterior.

Great progress so far! Dumb question - were you able to pull your door/ hinges without pulling the front fender?
@VanHoutenBuilds Жыл бұрын
So it's incredibly hard to make door adjustments without removing the fender. Maybe there's a trick to it I don't know about? I'm going to have to make more adjustments and am going to try and do it with the fender on so I can properly gap everything.

If you get new leaf springs from cj pony get the reverse eye. I have them and I still installed 1incj lowering blocks. The 5 leafs are a really firm ride with the kyb shocks which I have also on mine. Get the leaf spring shake kit with the polyurethane bushings. They last a long time.

Honestly it looks good with just the black paint on the roof (was wondering if you were planning to do a headliner or not. ) if you are taking the windows out to do seals that would be the time to do it for sure. (mine came with the windows already out so headliner will be last thing i do before i have the windows put back in with new seals) it looks really good! im just like you, as long as i can get something small done i feel like ive accomplished something and worked on it even if its just a little bit each night. my OCD brain wants to do it all at once and get it done! im dying to have my engine in and get wiring done so i can move on to painting the exterior and then interior and drive it! looking forward to more future videos
@VanHoutenBuilds Жыл бұрын
Yes, exactly! Not sure if I'm going to do a headliner. Was thinking about it only to help keep it cooler in the car when riding around. I would probably just do a 1 piece kit b/c I can't seem to find the headliner rods anywhere! Good luck to you and your build. We just have to stick with it, and we'll get them finished! Thanks for the support and for following along!

I'm watching your video so well, I have a question. Yacht blue and beige colors are so cool. I painted seats, dashboards, and inside the door with paint, but I wonder if you recommend leather painting. I think leather painting will be less durable.
@VanHoutenBuilds Жыл бұрын
I would not recommend painting leather. The paint I used on my upholstery is already presenting little issues and I don't think it will hold up.
