Finland’s flag has been raised at Nato’s headquarters in Brussels after the country became the 31st member of the security alliance.
The length of Russia's border with Nato member states has now doubled as a result.
Finland shares a 1,340-km (832-mile) eastern frontier with Russia and formally applied to join Nato with Sweden last May because of Russia's war.

I know the flagpoles are in alphabetical order, but I also think it's just fitting for the Estonian and Finnish flags to be next to each other because of their cultural connections. Not only are the Estonian and Finnish languages both Finnic and thus similar, but both their anthems share the same melody, majority of Finns visit (and some work in) Estonia, and Finland is Estonia's top trading partner! When Estonia was fighting for independence during the Russian Civil War in the late 1910s, Finnish volunteers joined the cause! And when the Finns were fighting the Soviets during the Winter and Continuation Wars in the 1940s, Estonian volunteers did the same! They are simply brothers in arms, and it's about time Finland finally joined them!

Nicola Zuzic The tragedy is in Ukraine where Russia is and NATO is not. NATO rejected Ukraine's request for application at the 2008 Bucharest summit. This was done to appease Putin who had threatened this would be crossing a line. But rather than appease Putin it just left Ukraine vulnerable to his brutal invasion. Russia has proven its neighbors need the mutual protection deterrence and defense of NATO.

@@dwl3006 Sort of. Finland was under russian rule during russo-turkish war. However Bulgarians have a soft spot for Finns. It was the Finnish guard's rifle battalion who got over the walls of Gorni Dubnjak and won the battle which made the encirclement of turkish forces at Pleven possible. TL;DR Finnish soldiers were a vital part in freeing Bulgaria. Source: I served in the Guards Jaeger Battalion. So I know the history
