CUMMINS DIESEL SWAPPED CHEVY TRUCK RESTORATION BEGINS NOW!

On episode 171 of Mike Finnegan's Garage, the fabled Roadkill ramp truck is coming back home after a two year stint inside of Concept Collision in Acworth, Georgia. This 1973 Chevrolet C30 3+3 Crew Cab dually was built decades ago with an custom extended chassis and a wedge-style bed for hauling a car to the race track. It was originally powered with a 454ci Big-Block V8 engine and TH400 three-speed automatic transmission. Thanks to the dudes at PowerDriven Diesel, it now sports a Cummins 6BT turbo diesel and 47RH Automatic Overdrive four-speed transmission. The diesel isn't stock either; before transplanting it from a 1997 Dodge 3500 dually, we upgraded it with ARP head studs, a new head gasket, larger fuel injectors, and better valve springs. We also performed the "killer dowel pin" mod and turned up the fuel injection pump. Topping all of these mods off are a pair of Garrrett compound turbos and a stock Dodge intercooler. The combination of parts is good for 65 psi of boost and over 1,000 lb-ft of torque.
Concept Collision repaired the body of the ramp truck, replacing all four doors, the front fenders, and the hood using parts from Brother's Trucks. David Newbern repaired some rust in the floor and one rocker panel before smoothing the passenger side of the firewall using a filler panel from Slosh Tubs. This video is all about putting the truck back together and then getting the truck back inside of my garage. Hope you enjoy it!

Being of age and how to manage the sequence of returns in those early periods is what seems quite scary in the current market. The market is never a loser in a twenty year cycle, but the 2000s decade scenario scares me and could really disrupt my retirement. When you are no longer accumulating but withdrawing its hard to be anything but cautious.

Before you start cutting on the bed to do a good neck ball install, check the distance from the neck in the trailer back to the vertical wall on the trailer and see how far up the bed you need to go with the ball placement. You may find with the extended bed on the truck behind the wheels the ball needs to be behind the rear axle which will take weight off the front potentially affecting steering and breaking.

The 2 to 3 friends taking on the world with nothing but passion bit that made the channel has been lost. Too big a cast of characters, too many catchphrases, too little action and too many projects that have the money spent but do little. Finnigan has stayed true to his passions and roots. Also, I like idea of pulling center boards, and installing gooseneck on chassis. That way, this truck can still be a ramp truck, but also do gooseneck! Multi purpose, and KEEPS THE LOOK!

Hey Finnegan! I updated my 3x3 K30 last winter with 2006 Dodge seats front and rear. This gave me a great center console, power drivers seat, and an amazing fit on a fold up/down rear seat. I did have to mod the brackets a bit but it was really too easy.

Yo brother next time you wash seats like that get a pump sprayer 4 to 1 water to bleach with a shot of laundry soap. Will kill mildew you blasted off and will make the bugs run out because of the fumes if it doesn't kill them. Let it dwell a few minutes. on the bed use sodium percarbonate it is what you clean a deck with. Will make your deck boards last and look new. Would never suggest car related stuff but I have had an exterior cleaning business i know cleaning dirty crap.

My dad put a 12 valve Cummins and manual transmission in an 86 Scottsdale dually. When we pull into any place to race he get compliments all the time. It has never seen snow since he has owned it. I told him he would be a fool to sell it in any way but an good auction. Gets like at 15-20 mpg pulling 30 foot enclosed trailer.

One of the places people overlook when trying to reduce noise from a diesel engine is the oil pan. A large amount of sound come from underneath. If the sound of a diesel engine really bothers you. It might be a good investment in a engine diaper. It will help reduce the reflecting engine sounds.

The fabled legend returns! Need a fifth wheel and a enclosed trailer. Break another Game Over trailee axle, or better perhaps have good luck and survive a trip, heh.. Man it looks so clean now. Hotrod the rear window for a solid pane of glass that can be rolled down electrically. (Because i want to see how it can be done, to do it on my 1998 k1500.) Damn thing looks beautiful.
