Recently got the Demlich' 20th Adversary of Emptiness double album, which contains an interview booklet with Antti Boman (frontman). Antti Boman talks about how the black metal fans ruined the local metal scene for him (and possibly others), and that it was a large reason why Demilich died (in the '90s). Learning that the death and black metal scene in '90s Finland were so interconnected, that certainly explains a lot. And now it makes me wonder if that's why the other Finnish death bands just vanished.
@mimoso53353 жыл бұрын
Most finnish death metal bands vanished quickly because of a lot of stuff, the number 1 reason being that they just got bored of playing death metal and lacked motivation (which explains why the bands that didn't vanish just started playing different genres). They also had obligatory military service and the rise of the black metal scene didn't help either. Other than that I guess they just grew up and moved on with their lives.

12:20 For the uninitiated, you will never find a more unprofessional band in your entire life, and the reasons so many bands fail to capture their insane magic is because they try to imitate a band that themselves were neither trying to do anything nor sober enough to pull it off if they could. In the weird camp, I'll also throw in Scum's "Purple Dreams and Magic Poems", which is one of the strangest, most varied Melodic Death Metal albums you will likely ever find, and it rules.
