@@sampohonkala4195 "in Finland it is more of a rare gift" that is deeply fascinating. do you have any insights or theories about why it's rare there? i agree, her english was not perfect, but her ideas were great and clearly expressed.
@sampohonkala4195 Жыл бұрын
@@dirkchurlish4074 Traditionally Finns have been rather quiet, and hard to say why. Could be the very thinly populated country with long distances and isolated villages and farms far apart. Not much communication needed. Moreover, any kind of promoting or advertising or saying that you have a good product has been considered bragging. My grandfather is an example: a party asked him to run for Parliament in the 1930's. He agreed on one condition: he would not give a single speech or advertise. If people knew him and trusted him he would be elected, if not he would not care to be elected. Member of Parliament 1933-36, presidential elector in 1931, -37, -40, -43. That tradition is vanishing; people are more urban and I think even school children expresss their ideas much better than in my youth. But I would still say that it is not that common to come across someone who would speak really well and be convincing. Marin has that gift, in Finnish. It became apparent when at the age of 27 she was elected chair of the city council of the third largest city of Finland. She was simply so far ahead of anyone else, regardless to her age. Her English reveals that she has not been a top student at school; she is not exceptionally talented in everything, but she is a natural leader with the qualities needed for that, especially the ease of getting her message through.

I too would love Ukraine to ‘win’ but I cannot see that happening. The number of troops and equipment on both sides are too great for one side to defeat the other, so the war will not be won or lost. It will stop when both sides agree on a ceasefire, and this will mean Ukraine giving up some of its territory in the South East if large numbers of residents decide, in a fair controlled vote, to become part of Russia, OR sadly it will continue indefinitely with Ukraine continually suffering bombardment and battling against invading Russian troops.

Every surrounding country to Finland has peat as RENEWABLE form of energy. When the war started in Ukraine 24 feb 2022. Energy crisis was one of the worries all over europe as well as in Finland. Now the government wanted to go back for peat but well.... huge number of that machinery is gone. Some managed to start working, some didnt. Then there is fuel prices... even BEFORE THE WAR 98 octane petrol reached 2e/LITRE and that was again a way to suffocate people. For 2023 they RAISED taxing in fossilebased fuels. During war times. Now that, according to the news, a high representative of Chinese diplomacy is traveling to Moscow, it seems to me very difficult to prevent Ukraine from being a loser with this invasion of Ukraine by Russia if China decides to sell weapons to Russia. And, if that happens, the Civilized World ends up allowing a country, in this case the current Russian political regime, led by Vladimir Putin, VIOLATES the PRINCIPLE of RESPECT for the DEFENSE of HUMAN LIFE, and also allows the VIOLATION of RESPECT for the SOVEREIGNTY of an INDEPENDENT COUNTRY. The Allied Countries of Ukraine say that they will support Ukraine as long as necessary, but more than many words and applause in the defense of Ukraine, it is urgent and necessary to move from words to deeds, and urgently provide Ukraine with the weapons it needs to defend yourself. What Russia did in the city of Mariupol was a TRUE GENOCIDE of the population of that Ukrainian city. A great city is completely destroyed, and civil Ukrainian, many children included, were killed. And , the same it happens in another Ukrainian cities and villages . Russia is acting with total impunity in its invasion of Ukraine, practicing a war, in its lying justifications and in its practices, exactly the same as practiced by ADOLF Hitler in World War II. And, does the Civilized World allow that to happen? Simply unacceptable! With this invasion of Ukraine by Russia it is proven that Democratic Would cannot trust in DITATORIAL leaders. And unfortunately, we also concluded that China probably never should have joined the World Trade Organization. And if China decides to supply Russia with weapons, it is time for the Civilized World to severely limit trade relations with China, as well as not welcoming more Chinese investment in the West. THE DEFENSE for RESPECT for HUMAN LIFE must BE ABOVE ECONOMIC INTERESTS

I am pretty sure she will not be a president anytime soon, since becoming a president in finland basically means retiring from politics and only working as an image/face for foreign countries. Someone may disagree with me but the truth is that president of finland is like a king/queen that takes very little part if any in making any political decisions.

China imports a lot of food and energy. With a aging population. Chinas navy is 40 years behind the US. Chinas Economy is largely based on exports to the US not Russia. Russia doesn’t have a port that doesn’t freeze over in the winter. Russia wants Ukraine for the farm land and sea access. In a nut shell both countries can be economically isolated via naval warfare.

@duhni4551 Жыл бұрын
Though Russia isn't going forward, if you compare war map of today to what it was you see Russia has been pulling back, also Russia has lost its military almost completely, they can't even gear their soldiers nor rebuild their modern weapon systems. They are in such situation that over a million of their conscripts left the country and only prisoners and such are left. Even them are revolting and surrendering in masses. All this by West sending surplus systems that are not in use in West. Guess what happens now that West is training Ukrainians to use modern weapon systems.....

The agreement after WW2 was that us and UK would get the anglo land and Germany while Russia gets eastern Europe because this was the way of giving up land and spheres of influence to nations that won the war and endured the most. Instead the us and UK not only took France and Germany and Netherlands and scandanavian countries but now they want to and have been for decades taking the Baltics and Yugoslavia region and eastern Europe and have been seventy percent through taking Ukraine after the 2014 us led coup in Ukraine. Russia is on the right side of history here and it is their moral imperative to defend their historic land. They were invaded numerous times in the past by anglos aka France and Germany. Russia knows the cost of war and the cost of inaction

@@mistersquare7327 Yes, civilizations are like living organisms: they die. The humanism of the Enlightenment is on the way out. Now it is transhumanism or posthumanism, according to some thinkers.
