Fun fact: In 2012, I went to a shitty bar in Pensacola FL and caught and AfroMan show. The dude was aggressive with the crowd, especially after someone passed him a joint with synthetic gas station weed in it, which was all the rage in 2012 FL. The whole set he played a double neck guitar and awkwardly solo’d over the back trackings of his hits. He, as in AfroMan, was not only was the “main event” but he was also his own DJ. All of his songs were being played from a pre-2009 iPod and you could hear the clicks as he scrolled to the next song in the set. Top 3 best/worst performances I’ve ever seen.

Agree with most of the points about "Lips of an Angel", but the line "I guess we never really moved on" makes me think it was written about a former lover that didn't work out but they still feel for each other. As a smoker myself, what you said about marijuana being annoying because of people making it the entire basis of who they are is spot-on. Imagine being a human being with massive amounts of untapped potential and reducing yourself voluntarily to "lol let's get ripped" is a massive waste and also why I cut back so much compared to how I used to be.

I agree to an extent with what you're saying about people who make weed their whole personality, but I do also think that there are people that make alcohol their whole personality too. My dad has an app that he uses to log in every new beer that he's tried and it gives you virtual medals for it.

I was lucky enough to spend a summer living in the bush with a bunch of old Hippys that would invariably get talking about how much better their lives would be if they hadnt spent so much money on drugs. While I did enjoy partying, I decided right then and there I wouldnt be like those guys. Besides the financial aspect, I beleive that discontent is about the most effective motivational tool, people that just kill their discontent through substance abuse tend to never make any real changes towards a better life.

The music produced by "weed culture" is largely artless and derivative, to my ears at least, yet I love the heroine fueled offerings of The Velvet Underground and Lou Reed. Are my aesthetic judgements hypocritical? Am I on to something? Am I high right now? Only Finn can judge.
@johnindigo54773 жыл бұрын
I never understood weed music. The idea that that's what someone only listens to. Most stoners I know listen to all kinds of music and are just high while doing it. Metal, hip hip, indie etc. Isn't most music these days artless and derivative anyway?

I can think of an exception. Isn't Stoner Rock/Doom/Metal a serious genre, and actually good? Not exactly "DUDE WEED LMAO" novelty/meme music.

Omg 😱 I'm dyinggggg at this. Shooting up the box into the sun omg.. I'm not at all against drugs of any sort least of all weed. But the weed smokers who make it their whole personality & never shut up about it and how it fixes everything. Secondly that dumb ass loss of an angel song haunts my nightmares. I worked at a strip club and I can't tell you how many of those dancers LOVED this song, they used to argue over who got to use it each hour(cuz obviously if everyone is doing the same terrible song in a row it'd be torture, ½ naked girls on a pole or not.) And unlike the radio songs can live far longer in the club esp if a girl(s) decide they rly like a song. It was played a min of twice a night even 4 years down the road of the rest of the world forgetting about it. 🧡🦇

So hilarious! I use to love Buckcherry; their song, Porno Star, is even worse. Also, Hollaback Girl was aimed directly Courtney Love, after she tried to call out Gwen as a popular, cheerleader girl. I had a few dude friends who hated Gwen/ND, and I never could figure it out (until lately). So, you DON'T like cute girls who play/are into music?🤔

Meh I have been smoking weed for decades and I have a pretty successful career. It's not the weed that's the problem. If you are lazy, weed amplifies that but weed doesn't inherently make you lazy. It actually makes me motivated.

I definetly agree with this. I kind of see were finns coming from since like you said lazy stoners tend to already be lazy people but the weed factored in can lead to a sort of high minded complex (no pun intended) where youll use weed as an excuse for any shortcomings. Like that guy who says he's enlightend and "is above the material world" and that's why we doesn't work. But Also take into account if someone's younger than 23 cuase you're already doing stupid annoying things at that age that you'll probably regret 5 years later anyway.

24:53 Honnestly I saw No Doubt playing live in London at the Underworld (mid 90's ?), and it's to this day, it's still a very memorable and enjoyable live performance. Gwen Stefani was that real stage seducer that had this magnetic charisma making you belive that she was singing FOR you and looking AT you. She was amazing, and honnestly her live voice was pretty good actually. I don't get why peeps go hating her. Unfortunate she did go solo, I liked No Doubt for what they were.

"Why is the singer dressed like Ashley Simpson? I have questions..." Ah, damn it :D As much as I passionately disagree on some points, honesty and actually know what you're talking about aside, those weird pop-culture references that you can't unsee once you know it always get me. As for the music... I remember really liking "Because I got high". I didn't mind getting high those days, and that felt just like an honest song about that. "Finger Eleven", judging from that one song, seem to have chosen the wrong name, they should have picked "The Finger Eleven" because they sound like just another of those annoying early-2000s "the" bands. They even kind of dress like one. As for Black Eyed Peas... a less then good german pop/rock band put it perfectly: "That's no music, that's the Black Eyed Peas." No disrespect to Fergie, she might be a great person, might even be a good singer, but when the Black Eyed Peas blew up with her as a singer... outside of German pop music (as in "pop music in German", which has some gems, but most of it is just the most generic, badly made piece of crap you can possibly think of), that's probably the worst insult to the ears that anyone could listen to without going completely crazy. Gwen Stefani though... that's still the template for a lot of female artists to this day as far as I'm concerned. Nothing that I'd listen to, but you gotta pay respect where it's due, and many artists these days would sound very different or not be internationally known at all without her.
