The irony of Bittersweet Symphony is that the violin part was also sampled by The Rolling Stones in their song. None of the writing credits should have gone to the Stones since the one part of the song the Verve used, wasn’t the part that The Stones wrote.

Id say the cha cha slide is the 2000's version of the macarena, as like the macarena in the 90's it was played at every single big party and everyone would do the dance. The Cupid Shuffle later in the decade a close second that was also very common and pervasive, Crank that had its moments but was arguably bigger as an online dance or something to do at a small hangout. I rarely saw the Crank that dance done at big parties even during the height of that songs popularity, it fits in more with modern tik tok dances which blow up online, but are rarely done at party's unless there's a bunch of influencers there.

The '90s really were the decade of one hit wonders! You could make quite a few sequel videos with how many there were. Here are my thoughts on each of these: "Baby Got Back" - If you're gonna do a one hit wonder, this is how it's done. An iconic song that most people have probably heard at least once. "Macarena" - I kind of like this song more than I should. As a kid, I had a screensaver with this song on it and I used to drive my mom insane letting it play on the computer. I also learned the dance in gym class, because of course I did. "Stay (I Missed You)" - I didn't like this song at first, but it's really grown on me. There's something about the aesthetic of mid-late '90s acoustic rock songs like this one that makes me intensely nostalgic. "No Rain" - I really like this song! It makes me want to drive down an empty desert highway with the top down. My little brother hates it with a passion, though... "Bitter Sweet Symphony" - When people ask me what my favorite song is, I tell them it's this one. I love it and it never gets old for me. "Cannonball" - I heard this song in a grocery store a couple of weeks ago and it was amazing. Everything about it is cool, from the sexy vocals to the badass production. "What's Up?" - I heard this song in the car last Friday and it was not very amazing. I said the last song sounded badass, but this one just sounds like ass. Those vocals, just why? "Unbelievable" - Another iconic and catchy hit from the early '90s. I just wish I didn't think of all the commercials it's been in every time I heard it...

I remember this song being played repeatedly in every bar on Summer of '92, and unlike The Breeders - who put out at two very good back-to-back classic albums, as well as a bunch of others - I don't recall any other song by the Spin Doctors. And indeed I had a big crush on Kim Deal.

Macarana is in New movie called Inside with Willem Dafoe blasted from the refrigerator as a reminder to close the door and Shannon Hoon also sung and appeared in the Don't Cry video from GNR along with doing background vocals on several other Use your Illusion songs.

Was surprised to see that during The Breeders "Cannonball" vid no one in the chat mentioned their drummer at the time was Britt Walford from Slint.
