it may be beneficial for indian economy. like people will order less luxury imported item, more people will go to indian tourist place for tourism, and indian who works in foreign country will get more rupees. Only disadvantage is that necessary item like petrol, electronics will cost higher. Also increasing petrol price is good for reducing pollution and govt can promote EVs.

Why everyone's blaming government? It's very clear that trade deficit is the biggest reason of rupee falling. That means India is importing more goods than its exporting. Why can't we produce more goods in India? That's why i think it's not the gov to blame. It's people to blame because everyone wants job nobody wants to start a business. Teach our young people to be entrepreneurs that's what india needs. And switch to green energy asap because largest spending now we have is crude oil. If we can reduce it our trade deficit will go down, rupee will recover.

Honestly if the government provides general good infrastructure, like roads, transport, healthcare and clean cities, most of the best and brightest people currently leaving India will stay and have an entrepreneurial venture or continue to stay back and spend their productive age here. Considering the 2nd point, profit from foreign investments if in high amount are repatriated, would create more demands for dollar. This would actually worsen the condition of local currency. The currency exchange from USD to INR during investment is much less than when investors pull out their investment. This along with the profit would make demands for USD even higher, worsening INR in the long run. Not only that, it would create pressure on Indian forex reserve.
