Hi, Finn! Fellow older trans man here. I may add that genetics play a large role in how you will age. A look at your father will tell you how you will age. I spent 49 years looking very young, because both my parents were neotenic, and I started T at 50 . I still look very young, but not to the point of embarrassment. I'm now 56 and I look 36, which is a great improvement from being in my 40's and looking 18 😅. My dad always complained about having to show ID to access elder tickets reductions, as when he was 70 he looked 45. So yeah, genetics, boys! It is a privilege to be able to get older, yes, and to be able to help all the little trans kids out there. Bless you! 🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈

Not even ten seconds into the video and I am so glad youtube recommended it. "Being me is the goal, not being the most attractive man in the world" is exactly what I've been trying to explain to people. Some struggle to understand how transitioning into an older man IS THE GOAL for many of us!

'You look older!' Well, yes, I've grown older. I used to look really young for my age and then at some point in my early fourties I got a lot closer to looking my age. To be honest, I think a lot of people think I'm younger because I'm just under 5ft so there's that. But as far as wrinkles and grey hair, yeah, started in my early fourties, it's called aging.

I too am a 50 year old trans man, but I've only been on testosterone for 5 years. The most annoying part of my transition is that I look younger than ever (and that people seem to think I ought to be pleased about that!). Just yesterday, someone told me I looked like my adult son's brother! My son was obviously not too thrilled about that, and neither was I. I hope l'll grow into looking like what I am, just like you have. I am middle-aged, and I am tired of looking like something I'm not. I have the privilege of finally looking like the man I am, now I just hope to also get to look age-appropriate. -No more having to explain to 20-somethings that they really ought to hit on someone their own age, pretty please... :)

@@FinnTheInfinncible just the lack of shadow can do it too. I’m lucky mine is growing in fast, but I still look like a college kid because of where I’m at still. I’m afraid shaving it will make me look even younger though as the facial hair also helps make my jaw look squarer and angular.

What a privilege to grow old as ourselves! Honestly, I think some of these comments stem from misogyny - they perceived you as a woman, and there is pressure on women to remain youthful and not show any signs of aging. Whereas when men age they look distinguished, mature, silver fox etc. You as a 50 year old trans man, thriving 11 years on T throws all that up in the air - they can't imagine why you'd want to look your age! You articulated it so well - we just want to look like ourselves and see our bodies as a home again 💖

Also, I don't think anyone can predict what age they would have looked like without the T. I always looked ten years younger than I was. Then one day... Suddenly my age started showing and I was no longer mistook for younger. If I had gone on T around that time, some people might have blamed it on that. There are so many factors that go into it. And thank you for your videos. It's important to hear from older trans folk.

Hi, I'm Marsel from Colombia. Thank you for talking about this topic, I like to learn new things and listen to differente perspectives. As retribution, I want to make a point, and that is that we need to make some room for people who are going to look younger than what they are despite everything. I mean, looking like what you are meant to look, according to your age and gender identity, is socially constructed, as societies determine how females and males should look. As you said, things like make-up, or height, weight, beards, etc. are factors that influence how you are read. So, let's you're a FTM o FTNB person who doesn't want to go on hormones. You are going to look like that "young boy", and you can do things like exercise to look a bit older, but the point is you're still a trans man or a nb adult, and thus, people need to start shifting their mindset to make room for understanding that men and women don't look all the same, and that non-binary people are also valid, and look in many different ways too.

Happy Pride Month Finn! 🏳🌈 This is a great thing to talk about! Well, we all age as time goes on, that's just nature ☺👍 I think you look great! We've aged almost at the same time once I realized your timeline! (I think I found your channel right around 2017 when I was looking for some support, thank you greatly for that!) I started my transition about 2016, and wow, I've aged too. I think for me, the receding hairline, back hair, and gray hair that started cropping up made a big difference. I started in my mid 30's, am now 47, so yeah, I look like I aged way faster because of everything. I've noticed when younger people transition, they have more of a "younger age" time than we did. Also, I really don't mind how I look. I knew I wouldn't turn into Fabio (would have been nice huh? lol) But my body fits with what I've been through, I earned this gray hair! 😁😉 My biggest annoyance is that my doctors think that ANY issues I have are related to being on T, it's really annoying. Things can be going on separate from my transition. 🙄 I hope you all have a ton of fun at woof fest! 🐩

I hate it. almost 10 months later, and my face is getting acne on it now (which makes me look even younger). I knew there was a chance of it. I figured after 9 months of none what so ever I was in the clear. Man is it hitting me hard. My facial hair is barely coming in and patchy, so that makes me look even more like a 15 year old boy lol. Finn, just found your channel. I am MtoF trans and started transitioning in my sixties. I am now starting my twentieth month on HRT. I usually find it hard to relate to FtoM trans videos, but somehow I am finding your videos so interesting and refreshing. Thank you so much. It is interesting how you say you looked very youthful before testosterone. I am finding I am looking more like a male in my twenties or thirties as the effects of HRT become more prominent. My hope is with some additional medical interventions I more closely will align my appearance with my identity. Like many trans people, I am dealing with dysphoria and want my body to match whom I really am. My hope is my appearance little by little becomes more feminine. It is so important to have patience. It seems trans men see the effects of HRT faster than trans women. They also have the advantage of their voice becoming more masculine and growing facial hair as a result of HRT. Us MtoF people have to go through months or years of hair removal, voice training, and surgery to attain those things. I am sure FtoM people have challenges uniquely to themselves. They certainly go through intense medical interventions to become whom they really are. Whatever the differences, being trans in either direction has it challenges and is not easy. We can describe some things that are similar between us and some that are different.

Being Autistic with a connective tissue disorder, not wrinkling easily, it makes one look young already, add late transition at age 46, now being 53, I still get age guessed around late 20, somewhere around 30. People think, they can treat me as a young one with less respect, still. That connective tissue disease lets my body feel like 20 years older than I am. So I sort of feel, what you are saying. I feel so much better since my body looks like I feel. Age appropriate is, what it feels like. My first love met me last month, when I was visiting my home town, and he compared me to the teenager, I was, when I left town. He turned out to be gay, and I keep wondering, how life would have turned out for us, if he stuck together with me and I him through transition. I think, it is a t shit idea, I would wear it, It is Time that aged me, not testosterone. Maybe even get one of those artists, who can write those palindromic letterings.

You look great for your age! I totally had that eternal teenager look before i transitioned. Its just because when you *present* as a man, but don’t have male secondary characteristics i.e muscles, beard, thicker jawline, receding hairline , you inevitably look younger! Also estrogen does soften the appearance a little because of how fat is distributed, but still if i had matured as a woman i would still look the same age i am now IF people *read* me as female, but because i wore mens clothes and had male haircuts, people didn’t read me as female, they read me as male but before puberty! trans men before they take hormones, or a nonbinary or butch lesbian, if your *used* to seeing people like that, coz your part of a queer scene, you tend to not think they look that young! You don’t just see people entirely by these moulds of what an adult man or woman should look like. Theres pros and cons obviously , it can be nice for people to think your younger than you are, esp in a youth obsessed culture. It can mean maybe you get away with more because in a way people expect less. But that also means people may take you less seriously , might think your less experienced or wise.

You look like you're 50, no older.😊😊😊 Your illnesses probably hold u back from walking , exercising a bit. I don't know about the testosterone link. Losing hair too can age you. I went grey and am now white at a young age. At 40, I said no more dying my hair, um going natural. Some people didn't like it, but I did. Now, at 58, they want my platinum white hair. Genetics play a big role, too. My Mum was white on her 20's . If you eat well and keep yourself active, plus rest well, your body will take care of itself. Those who eat poorly and don't move seem to age poorly. That's what I have noticed.

I wonder if part of it is to do with the internet being a sort of digital time capsule? People can watch a video from a decade ago as if it was posted today, maybe people subconsciously assume that hardly any time has passed because realistically a decade is quite a while and to not appear to have aged at all for over 10 years would probably involve facelifts and fillers and whatnot lol. Either that or it's just people trying to make being trans out to be a bad thing, they might not even realise that's what they're doing cos a lot of us have so much internalised baggage from bigotry within society. Human beings age, it's not a new thing. I hope I get to reach an old age like 80 or 90 so I can have more cool experiences lol
