Uniden Grant XL, The Best CB Radio Ever made? Restoration and Testing

I picked this radio up and eBay for $99 with free shipping. It was untested so I took a gamble. The only problem with this radio so far has been the meter background light. On internet forums allot people say this was the best receiving CB radio of all time. I'm doing some side by side comparisons with my 1st gen 858 President Grant. Right now the Japanese made 858 President Grant is undefeated 6-0. I have a AT6666Pro coming in to do a new vs old comparison.

I've noticed the early Uniden radios and most of the Japanese made radios I've seen have the filter crystals encased in a metal can. I think that's what you were talking about.
