I am Japanese! She is the important benefactor who changed life for me. The Fiona apple is loved from the bottom of its heart.

Big fan of Fiona apple. One day I got drunk and decided to play this playlist and sleep. In my sleep this song came over and in my soporific state I started crying. I don't know why this very song was able to persuade a few tears from my otherwise hollow existence but the feeling was incomparable. I have hardly ever felt so strongly about any song. Can never forget this song. Can't ever forget about you Fiona. You are beautiful and so is your music. Thanks for your creations.

This song moves me as well. Fiona is a great musician, her version of this amazing song by Cy Coleman is incredible.

This is possibly one of the most beautiful, most haunting jazz melodies ever composed (in my humble opinion). I'm always surprised that more people don't know it and that more jazz musicians don't know it. If you don't know it, you should look out for the definitive version by Blossom Dearie.

Pretending that we'll meet Each time I turn a corner, I walk a little faster Pretending life is sweet 'Cause love's around the corner, I walk a little faster Can't begin to see my future shine as yet No sign as yet, you're mine as yet Rushing to a face I can't define as yet Keep bumping into walls and taking lots of falls And even though I meet 'round each and every corner With nothing but disaster I set my chin a little higher, I hope a little longer Build a little stronger castle in the air And thinking you'll be there, I walk a little faster Can't begin to see my future shine as yet No sign as yet, you're mine as yet Rushing to a face I can't define as yet Keep bumping into walls and taking lots of falls And even though I meet 'round each and every corner With nothing but disaster I set my chin a little higher and I hope a little longer I build a little stronger castle in the air And thinking you'll be there, I walk a little faster

I'm so glad to see that she did these songs. I love her so much; she has such a great talent. And Cy Coleman was a great man- very funny and kind and talented, and I was happy when he joined our family. He is greatly missed by his family and friends, and it's wonderful to hear Fiona's beautiful voice doing honor to his songs.

Absolutely love his cover, and Why Try to Change Me Now. So emotionally charged, beautiful, and from the heart. Makes you want to cry, rail, dance, and dream.

What impresses me is definitively her voice expression, absolutely exceptional even if not unique! Yes there is only a bounch of female singers who have this talent to can say wit the voice much more than the melody and the lyrics alone would do; in other words, deep souls who did understand truly what a song is waiting for to can express fully what the author had in heart. There are still so many songs who are waiting for the 'merciful singer' who can understand them and so few singers around who could stop to them and bring them up on the stage to the audience! It's a topic, I know!

its like she walked inside this song and saw every street and knew just where to go and when to just pause and start again and was able to nail every note and wring every iota of meloncholy out of this wonderful work of art, her extraordinary instincts told her when to walk a little faster

Fiona Apple is and always will be an outstanding artist. She's one of those true unique artists that come into this world to charm our ears, and yet, are underrated. But in this world of costume dress "artists", where pretty much the glamor and beauty of music doesn't even show itself, this is where real, true, heart giving artists shine, at least we who appreciate music in all it's form can feel and see that. Fiona Apple really does make the difference and for that, I am truly grateful.

Leave it to Fiona to cover Tony Bennett. She is such a beautifully tortured soul that makes the most out of her emotions through her art. I love her.
@kruks6 жыл бұрын
This is from a tribute album of Cy Coleman songs. Tony Bennett's version is probably the most popular, but it was first sung by Blossom Dearie. Fiona has two songs on the cover album (this and "Why Try to Change Me Now"), but there's many other good recordings on the album from other artists. Also, Fiona's sister is a cabaret singer, so it always seemed fitting for Fiona to sing some jazz songs eventually, especially with her voice.
