I’m no expert but she’s gotta be of the greatest vocalists in the world. She’s so good it’s insane. Such a wonderful performance 💕

Nothing will ever beat Ms. Apple’s live rendition of “I Want You,” but this … this is up there, man. This is breathtaking.

I would settle for that, but we need much more than that. People like Frank and Dean and Nat King Cole, and so many other artists did so many albums like that in the 60's and 70's... just covering classics and other popular songs in their own style. The practice kind of slowly died off. But why? Having someone like Fiona curate her own album of old jazz standards and reimagine them with her flair and touch is something that would be so beautiful and brilliant. I'm aching to hear it!

2 months from bday 81 and thought I knew almost every single one of the great classics Cannot believe I never heard this until 5 days ago and I dont know where this song was hiding but the hiding is over. The lyrics and melody are a magical blend that mix perfect amounts of vulnerability, hope, and tender melancholy just above a whisper. And while this song has been performed by Tony B and Blossom Dearie who do well with it, it simply disappears in moments, THIS version just keeps playing in my head/heart as Fiona's voice and phrasing and facial expressions are holding me like a prisoner-- and I am more than happy to be a prisoner for life. Would LOVE to hear her sing For All We Know and a dozen others. This version is one minute longer than any other you will find and huge kudos to the pianist and players and to a glorious human/performer-- Fiona Apple. Gonna play it now,

I have admired Fiona Apple for literally 27 years now. I always found time to listen to her albums and read about her life. She is one of maybe 6 or 7 people I did that with. All the others are scientists or intellectuals. For some reason I cannot define, especially since I do not know her personally, she is also like one of 5 people in the world who I care what her opinion of me is.
@Nosfermarki Жыл бұрын
You said this a year ago, but I get what you mean. I think for me, it's because I feel like she truly sees people in a way most people don't. Like she'd see to my soul and her opinion would be on the core of me. And at the same time, I feel like her core is not hidden like everyone else. So if she were to trust me or find me safe, it would be more meaningful if that makes sense.

[Verse] Pretending that we'll meetEach time I turn a cornerI walk a little faster Pretending life is sweet 'Cause love's around the corner I walk a little faster [Chorus] Can't begin to see my future shine as yet No sign as yet, you're mine as yet Rushing to a face I can't define as yet Keep bumping into walls and taking lots of falls And even though I meet 'round each and every corner With nothing but disaster I set my chin a little higher, I hope a little longer Build a little stronger castle in the air And thinking you'll be there I walk a little faster Can't begin to see my future shine as yet No sign as yet, you're mine as yet Rushing to a face I can't define as yet Keep bumping into walls and taking lots of falls But even though I meet 'round each and every corner With nothing but disaster I set my chin a little higher, I hope a little longer Build a little stronger castle in the air And thinking you'll be there I walk a little faster

Before fiona came out. I was in Hawaii. With my family. Fiona was not out yet. I was on a boat with a Woman and her daughter. Woman- kept saying "this is Fiona" "This is my daughter" Her daughter - not happy - i gave Fiona my floaty. She did not like the fish under her feet. Even though she could see them. We swam together and she didn't want her hair wet.
