Excellent cinematography. Lancer is definitely one of my favorite characters from Fate/Zero, (and may actually be my favorite, once I sort through all of my varying opinions on the character development of each of the Servants) and I can greatly appreciate how you've portrayed him. Both fights with Saber were very interestingly synced to the music; I haven't seen those particular scenes combined in that way before, so you managed to bring a unique aspect to that battle as well as tying it to Lancer's past. Well done. This deserved to win.

And I'm not kidding, just imagine For Rider: The Noble Conquest Iskandar's epic adventure to achieve the ultimate goal of world conquest, spreading his identity across the continent, taking down kingdoms, only to take them under his wing I'd watch that over One Piece any day For Archer: The Epic of Gilgamesh, king of Uruk A story of his rise to power as a demigod, telling the story of him and his companion Enkidu and their adventures, it could make the world's strongest douche into an awesome world's strongest douche For Berserker: Black Knight: A sinful shadow The legend of *spoiler if you haven't seen it, if you haven't go watch it you fool* Sir Lancelot and his twisted identity as the black knight, his sinful history, the betrayal, the pain, I'd go crazy just watching it For Lancer: (Actually, that would be a nice name) Fionn's Curse Diarmuid, cursed with a love spot under his eye, the story would pursue this handsome spear wielding knight and his life with Grainne, the challenges which await him, and yet another curse which haunts him. For Assassin: Hashshashin An anime about a Persian Assassin who has multiple personality disorder? At least that's how Waver described it, sure his character is substantially more one dimensional in fate/zero due to his lacklustre position as hero fodder,, but just imagine how beautiful it would be to watch! An anime where to protagonist is a multi-personality assassin in the mountains of Northern Persia! For Saber: The sword of promised victory Yeah we all know Saber isn't exactly the most interesting of all the servants, but just imagine! The title itself would give the impression of victory, while the anime itself drives a point in where even though she wins her battles, she loses the people she cares about, the tale of a sorrowful, lonesome King and her path to both victory and despair. For Caster: From Knight to night The tale of horrors, with a protagonist who is a famous knight of the french army alongside Joan of Arc with the potential to become the world's most horrific serial Killer, and the suffering he goes through which eventually drives him to the very edge of insanity.

I honestly am not a fan of Grainne's portrayal in Fate/Zero. When they showed Lancer's flashback, people are like "Oh wow a forbidden love story of a princess and knight who fell in love and ran away and eloped together".. NOT! Grainne is the bitch who seduced Diarmuid. He wasn't in love with Grainne like what Fate/Zero showed, it was actually a one-sided affair and he was seduced and forced to come with her to escape because of a geis. People think that Fionn (that old guy in the flashback) was nothing more but an evil king who killed DIarmuid. In reality, Fionn is actually King Arthur level on his legend by his own right. He actually has a lot of stories, and to be honest, I'm surprised Diarmuid was chosen as Lancer instead of him.

+radioactivfishy ! I don't disagree with you. Grianne is definitely very selfish in her actions, and without her setting a gaes, Diarmuid and Fionn would likely never have come at odds. I wouldn't quite put Grianne on the level of, say, Medea, but she's definitely the instigator of the conflict in the story. That being said, from her perspective, it IS pretty devastating to find you're to marry a man old enough to be your grandfather, when you had been expecting otherwise. Of course, that doesn't excuse what she did in the slightest. Fate Zero definitely chose a unique perspective of relating the story of Diarmuid & Grianne; as you said, Grianne is portrayed as the simple love interest of Diarmuid, or at most, the forbidden love. I would have loved to have seen her placing the gaes on Diarmuid, or drugging the Fianna; this would have shaped the tragedy even more, and been more faithful to the original story. Given the extremely limited amount of time devoted to this flashback sequence (no longer than 90 seconds), I can somewhat understand Urobuchi (Fate Zero's writer) / Ufotable's approach. I wish they had given more time to Diarmuid, even a whole episode... Ultimately, the recurring thematic struggle that encapsulates Diarmuid's story is "conflicting loyalties." Diarmuid is very honorable, and his honor and loyalty are tested in both the Fianna and in the story of Fate/Zero, to tragic consequence.

+radioactivfishy ! It might have been misguided but if you think about it, doesn't Grainne make one hell of a great multi-faceted villain? I mean Fionn might have been a king who's legend is on par with Arthur, but that doesn't change the fact that he was an old creep who ordered a young girl raised to be his bride. In Grainne's myth it say she was expecting to marry either his son or his grandson. And then we have Diarmuid, our hero stuck bound to the villain where he could possibly be exposed to near endless manipulation/psychological warfare, ect... dude it would so cool!

Nothing wrong with standing up for yourself, mind f*cking and enslaving someone to do it.... not so much. in the myth Grainne asked e number of the men to help her, they refused because they were all friends of Fionn and loyal to him. Eventually she got fed up and placed a geis on Diarmuid that forced him to follow her wherever she went. Fionn then went after both of them. Fionn was a dick and Grainne was a manipulative b*tch, and in the end nobody win's, thus goes most Mythologies.

Urobuchi's Fate/Zero is what made me love the Fenian legends of the Fianna, Diarmuid in particular, and now this awesome AMV appears with what- to my untrained ear- sounds like spine-tingling, blood-raising, heartracing Celtic chanting as its lyrics? Spectacular, truly spectacular, Irriadin. I thought "Neuromancer" was incredible, and this? This is just as good :D! I also enjoyed the Fenian cycle, particularly Diarmuid... if there was more flashback material in Fate / Zero, I would have liked to make this video all about Diarmuid, Grianne and Fionn, but I think it came out well regardless. irriadin And there's so much more flashback material they could've used for Diarmuid, and not just pertaining to his relationship with Grainne. So many of his deeds went untold in Fate/Zero, that it's almost criminal. He defended the shores of Leinster from 200 men single-handedly, he slew three powerful druids and used their blood to free the Fianna from their castle, he journeyed to Magh an Ionganaidh (the Plain of Wonder) and slew 3,400 warriors over the course of seven hours to retrieve a cup of three draughts for the daughter of King Under-Wave, and over the course of the Pursuit, slaughtered the hunting dogs of the Green Champions (at one point, bashing one's brains out on a rock by swinging around it by it's legs). But, I concur, this video came out spectacularly when all is said and done. Again, you did excellent work here, my friend. :D

Don't get me wrong Diarmuid is my favourite servant and while I get the tragic irony of his defeat in Zero he really deserved better. Plus it would have been cool if Type-Moon commented on the fact that Lancelot never actually existed, rather he's someone's OC added into the mythos centuries later, and most likely Lancelot is based on Diarmuid's legend. Honestly, even a quick jab or taunt at having an Irish and an English servant fight each other given the history between Ireland and England would have been nice!

Generally most books on Irish Mythology will have stories about Diarmuid, Grianne and the Fianna. One such is Over Nine Waves by Marie Heaney. Hope that helps! :)

It contains many tales of the Tuatha De Danann (the gods of Irish mythology), followed by the stories of heroes from the Fenian Cycle of Irish lore, from whence Diarmuid and his legends originate. I find my music in a variety of ways... Firstly, watching AMVs themselves is a great way of discovering new music. I also use Pandora, Google Music All Access (which is like Spotify), KZbin, music blogs, etc. If you find one artist you like, it's easy to find others that sound somewhat similar. Follow that branching line, and you'll start discovering a lot of new music to listen to.
