Fionnuala Jay explains what Mick Jagger said about Harry Styles in a recent interview.
Mick mentioned that he doesn't agree with the comparisons between Harry and a younger Mick Jagger and that he thinks there are lots of differences. Fionnuala talks about how Harry is clearly very inspired by The Rolling Stones and it's weird that Mick has taken the comparisons so personally.

This also is coming from the same Mick Jagger who called MGK the “future” of rock music. We shouldn’t listen to his opinions anymore. He’s a hollow shell of his former self who’s been irrelevant and past his prime for years. Now the man is senile, confused, foolish, and out of touch. Harry is just having some fun experimenting and playing around with different kinds of music while still discovering his own personal identity during these relatively early stages of a solo career. I believe he will continue to surprise us and eventually prove that he’s found a unique, definitive sound over the next several years

Mick didn’t say anything that isn’t true, their music isn’t similar, Harry isn’t as androgynous, the only similarity is looks and they are both pushing/pushed gender boundaries. People are taking what mick said as rude but it really isn’t rude at all. Anyway slay Harry you’re amazing.

Of course he will dismiss him because Harry is Harry, Harry is different, fresh, unique and the list can go on. Harry is a legend/Icon of this ERA and not of the past. We need to stop confusing ourselves with what is happening now verses what happened in the past🤦🏾‍♀️

He ain't no legend. Someone is famous and has a great fan following doesn't make someone a legend. Mick Jagger is levels above Harry Styles in every possible way. Harry doesn't even come close. Harry is not even the best musical artist of his own era. 'Fresh, Unique, different, legend' something he definitely isn't. Other artists from our era and artists of colour do more than him but get merely any recognition. Harry is nothing new.
