Arvis (アルヴィス, Aruvisu, Alvis in the Japanese version) is an antagonist of Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War. After the death of King Azmur, he is appointed Emperor of Grannvale. He is the son of Duke Victor of Velthomer and Cigyun, and the descendant of Fala on his father's side and Saint Maira on his mother's side. Arvis is said to possess the "gift of Kings", a talent and toughness that he had even as a child, allowing him to lead Velthomer at an early age after his father's suicide. He is largely manipulated by Manfroy because he has minor Loptyr blood, making him the key to Manfroy's dark ambitions. He is the father of Julius, Julia, and Saias.

I was thinking about it, while it would be a very brilliant story and the support and children mechanics are interesting, it wouldn't qualify as a T-rated game, because of dark themes, incest and violent implications, so some people would be offended and will make everything possible for people to don't buy it :/

Arvis fell in love with Deirdre not just because she was a beautiful and charming woman, but also because she resembled his mother, for reasons that he learns later on, being that she's his half-sister, though his feelings didn't waver because of that. Cause you know, Genealogy of the Holy War is all about them incest being wincest. Anyways, not only that, but its been stated by the designers that Arvis had also suspected that Deirdre might have been Sigurd's wife, because it's known that his wife was missing. Meaning that showing Deirdre to Sigurd was a huge dick move, cause he was basically showing that Arvis was gonna be taking Sigurd's wife for his own, as Sigurd literally ends up dying a fiery death. I hated Arvis for that. However, Arvis is to be pitied, because his wife ends up realizing later on that she was Sigurd's wife (but she hadn't regained her memories still), his son gets possessed by Loptyr, and said son attacks both Arvis' wife and daughter, with his daughter being warped away and his wife being killed. His daughter then gets taken in by Seliph, but then kidnapped to be used as Manfroy's pawn. And no one knows exactly what happened to Azel, but he's likely dead as well. But in the end, Arvis loses EVERYONE he had ever loved in the end. And even though Seliph realized that Arvis was an unwilling pawn to his bloodline's curse, history forever branded Arvis as the villain, as we see in Awakening in Lost Bloodlines 2.

I am pretty sure that was said to have been a scrapped idea. It was intended to be there, but was removed in the end. It goes that Azelle (confirmed official name) that he was turned to stone to stop him from talking to Arvis, and sealed under the castle. Azelle was married to Tailto and that after the war, with Naga's power, Azelle was restored, and Claude sacriiced his life and used the Valkyrie Staff to revive the dead Tailto, and they are reunited.

Also, I just calculated Alvis' growths, and he'd be the glassiest glass cannon ever. He'd basically be a Blissey. HP = 110%, Strength = 10%, Magic = 90%, Skill = 20%, Speed = 50%, Luck = 50%, Defense = 10% and Resistance = 30% (I calculated it by subtracting Deidre and Julia's Holy Blood bonuses, doing the average that would equal Julia's non-Holy Blood affected growths, then I added the Holy Blood bonuses back).

I know this is kind of late but they kind of explained that he had heard rumors about Sigurd wife being missing. So that whole thing of revealing her to see if she had any memories of him was him checking remember he didn't completely trust Manfroy. So when of course she didn't recognize her husband he felt Okay cool so it wasn't her.... Only to his horror much much later down the road when he discovered she was his sister and so his previous assessment ended up being correct. But he had tried to hide it because you know what's the point of bringing up the past the Man's dead and it would destabilize everything that man's sacrifice cuz remember he turned our boy into a freaking sacrifice for his Golden Age Empire would all be meaningless... Which of course as we know ended up being meaningless, wife was murdered son ended up being possessed and was the one to do so and daughter ended up being missing as his friends in the background pretty much started to destroy everything he build up making it all meaningless

DrewPicklesTheDark Especially since he truly knew nothing about Dragons, basing them on how Jahn acted.....and after seeing all the other dragons in the Elibe games like Ninian amd Nils, hell even Fa, I think it was highly suspected Jahn was a long lived special type of "War Dragon" that Idounn "created" or he was "raised" in the era of the war that his mindset was build upon viewing things logically, he believed humans and dragons could never be anything but foes and immediatly refused to hear Roy out the moment he mentioned Arcadia, refusing to believe such a "contradiction" could exist and as far as he knew or believed sans Fa, he and Idounn were the only dragons left in Elibe (hell he likely never knew of the dragon's gate on dread isle, I felt more for him as a grey villian then "daddy didn't love me, so everyone can just DIE" Zephiel who was a better version of Ashnard...before Ashnard ever existed, ironic that its the next connecting game that you get more backatory on both antagonist...which Radiant Dawn failed abit with Ashnard other then the whole "he's Soren's dad" bit which was good; Blazing Sword really made me feel for Zephiel especially as I knew especially BS ending what he was going to eventually become, and let me see just how much of a piece of shit Desmond was, feel for the Queen, she at least tried to change her ways and be better, sadly Desmond was to far gone in wanting anything but the two's deaths at any cost that she lost her life, and the "restoration future" that every bern citizen counted on Zephiel to bring was lost with it as Zephiel became worse then his father as he had the will and charisma to start a continent wide war. And poor Guinivere, she lost the kind older brother she knew and her rule will always have the stink of her failure of a father and the belief she's a mere "traitorous" puppet. Hell her father kind of did get the last laugh, yeah he didn't get to use her "future husband" as his own "puppet king", but she's ruling Bern now and Zephiel is dead, found it funny how he kept claiming Helene "cucked" him and Zep looked nothing like him and come middle age, he looks "exactly" like him without the curly hair and beard, must be a knightmare for Zep to look in a mirror and see "that man's" reflection staring back at him every time, many a mirror were destroyed before Roy slew him I'm guessing).

FE4's Story: Amazingly detailed with complex motivations and intricate ploys to satisfy them FE4's Gameplay: Getting hit by bandits with axes who have a 30% because of terrain bonus AND weapon triangle disadvantage way more than you ever should be hit, and then getting a completely blank level is SO fun x.x

Somewhat important in the context of many of the children being raised by Aideen and Laquesis. Brigit became Eyvel, Ayra vanished, Ferry canonically became queen of Silesia and Tiltyu sacrificed herself to protect Teeni.

Zinnia Bowington A lot of guys' general tastes can be traced back to their mothers, not cuz incest is wincest (though it definitely is lmoa), but because it satisfies a level of comfort, psychologically. A remake of this game, done properly, would probably do great things for Fire Emblem in general. Unfortunately, certain mature themes not fitting with Nintendo's brand image probably makes this unlikely (not to mention it is a big map game in a small map franchise) it is easily my favorite of the series.

Man, this character spotlight was fucking great! I've always been fascinated by genealogy of the holy war but I've never gotten myself to play it, and now with the possibility of a remake of genealogy, I'm more likely to wait for that instead... You should make more character spotlights off of genealogy in the future tho, a few that interested me from the brief research I made would be Seliph/Celice, Sigurd, or Lewyn

It's not for the Snes, but rather famicom. You can use an emulator and an English patch, just look up "snes emulator" and "fe4 English patch" or something like that.

Alvis is literally a better villain, a better character in fact, than all the villains from Awakening and Fates *COMBINED!!!* I think that Alvis is the same character archetype as Michalis, as they both have red hair and are willing to sacrifice anything for their goals, but later when they change, they sacrifice their lives for the right thing.

I always thought that Alvis fits more in the likes of "Legacy of Kain" rather than Fire Emblem. He is an Anti-Villain who does what he thinks best for his own motivations, yet he's not devoid of love.
