Great knight Louis is absolutely not weird that's pretty much a meta pick for him in maddening Kagetsu as general will inevitably fall off as all armored infantry units do in late game but can carry you hard before then. Sage jade is absolutely something I didn't expect to see but might work jade has 25% mag growth plus the 30 from sage 15 more if using starsphere it might actually work out... Plus you get see them rock hard abs

Oh I know Louis as GK is quite standard. What's weird to me was making him into an enemy phase crit DPS.

I had Louis as Great Knight with a Lyn engraved Tomahawk. I had Ike on him until I got the DLC and switched to Hector. He had 100 hit on almost everything and around 15-20 crit. He was easily my most broken unit.

What's interesting about Jade's Stat Spread is it possibly makes her a perfect fit for one of the dlc classes in Fell Xenologue. Mage Cannoneer Specially if the stats work in her favor.

How so? If the datamine is correct, isn't their damage based on dex?

@@Blood_Ronin yes but it's hit rate is a combination of Dex + Str + Bld. Surprisingly enough that means their are immediate 6 Candidates for the class. Boucheron,Jade,Yunaka,Bunet,Kagetsu & Mauvier. Jade has decent balanced stats and is a good choice as a safety pick since the other 5 have better things they can run. Especially Boucheron & Yunaka. Their are other characters but one would need a good reason to choose them over others for example Clanne.

I’ve been running Great Knight Louis with Edelgard and inherited quick reposte. I have him with Lance and Axes for weapon syncs and he is just very consistent physical bulk and hits back hard. But he shines as a boss shredder. Raging Storm, Houses Unite+, Atrocity, that’s 3 health bars gone. And his very high strength makes Houses Unite the ultimate nuke. And lastly, if Dimitri is active, shield gambit can block a magic attack and allow him to enemy phase a mage if played right.

A fun change for the jade build might be to go sword mage knight so you can use Levin sword or you can go Lance mage k ight for the flame Lance you lose the healing but it becomes an interesting mix fighter good against everyone since you can still make use of normal physical weapons for mages or low Def targets and get the magic boost and vise versa with magic attacks

Some really cool stuff here, I also used Veronica's engraving on Elsurge since you get around the hit penalty with that tome, i gave it to Céline and put some more avoid from Marth on her and with her speed she was basically a covert unit I think she had something like 115/120 avoid by the end which was pretty hilarious

Yeah, I think Elsurge in general is a slept on tome. Having guaranteed chance to hit, especially on Maddening and with the buffed terrain in Engage, makes for reliability that just can't be ignored.

Chloe is fun as a Mage Knight but looking at her +3 SPD cap I wonder if she would do well as a General (20 SPD cap), Framme is a unit I never experimented with either but her growths are great across the board where she can grow in any class now that I look at her growths. Love units that start at level 1. I kept her at level 1 before getting the starsphere (Only got Tiki, getting any more seems like super breaking the game early on). No healer for chapter 5 is fun actually. But having starsphere for Jean / Framme / Clanne and keeping them at level 1 seems like a door to experimenting them with any class. Jean does superb without Starsphere to be honest but the 100% growth in defense is just fun.

I had a general Kagetsu on a hard run, but I changed him to Paladin because the rest of my team was way too mobile and it was hard to justify all my horses and wyverns moving 4 squares at a time.

Great Knight Louis is a killer. Pop a nice pure water and you'll be tanking loads of enemies.

i am going to give this guy real inspiration with Mage Knight Alear with Starsphere. Instant promotion into mage knight at level 10 and transition Alear into magic weapons as their magic stat goes up and eventually you want the skills Magic + 5 and Holdout. I want this guy to do that.

Actually I found tiki paladin jade to be better option for tanking and brawling than the actual armor classes. paladin alone fixes most of her growths and tiki puts her on next level with extra bulk

Your Louis build is very similar to mine, though I went the route of giving him Momentum with that extra movement with Great Knight and with his high build and Hector's buffs with wielding weapons heavier than your build, giving him the use of axes over swords.

If u take resolve from Ike and put kagetsu onto a speed taker. He will basically have the same speed by the time ur facing the boss as some of your faster units. With 0 drawback since kagetsu has high dodge. Hell dodge more. Hell resist mages better with resolve procing. And since he's using a blade you can easily set up resolve and a pure water to basically be an untouchable wall that needs dual strikes to take down.... And if their dying every encounter with kagetsu with a SILVER BLADE tearing into them. It'll be might late into the game before dual strikes start being a factor. Another weird build idea that I found is reprisal+Roy on a kagetsu martial master. He's crushing it with constant 20's on damage and if he gets pushed to the bring he's slamming into enemies with an additional 26-27 damage PER STRIKE. He currently has alcrity ++ but I'm working on getting him vantage ++ so he's constistant. (And binding blade does 40 base damage because Roy is fucking cracked.... So he is in no danger of being overwhelmed (chp 20 rn)

My go to build for Louis is great knight. Forge the iron greatlance you get in chapter 8 into a silver greatlance and he one shots everything

Love the funny builds, might try them. I'd like to showcase a few of my own that are actually working so far and you might like. First off, Mage Knight Louis. I know, sounds bad, but he still has a decent 45% strength growth, and he gets a whopping 60% defense so he still tanks physical but he wont get ignored bc he takes small amounts of damage and he also gets a 45% res growth so he ends up being a decent mage killer. From here you can do two things with him, 1) give him Ike so he tanks better, 2) give him Lyn and speed +5 do that he actually doubles. The other build I'm really liking is Berserker/Warrior Ivy. Really recommend this one. She has a base 25% str growth and 40% spd growth, as a Berserker she ends up with a 55% str and 50% spd so her speed is fixed, once she reaches dex cap, you can switch her off to warrior and she'll be doing tons of damage. Its pretty funny seeing Ivy destroy people with an axe. And third, Axe General Anna with Ike, gotta make that Hurricane Axe useful for once, nothing much to say.

What do you think about swordmaster Anna? Good magic, great dex and speed, plus a Leven sword. Could be a nasty dodge tank enemyphase counterattack nuke. And still have good enough luck to make money.

Do this exact thing, but with sword griffin knight. Levin sword + staves + higher magic growth + flier for movement, bonded shield strats, and griffin passive clears terrain for your foot units. It carried my first blind maddening run.

Why sword/lance Louis? Storms eye works better with axe units because they can use a Tomahawk. I used this exact built and he nukes everything. I highly recommend giving him Corin's skill that nullifies damage from chain attacks.

This, and also Killer Axe crits scale better with more base might. GK Louis has the BLD to support it, so this is the move. Main killer axe (corrin/lyn/camilla engrave), tomahawk (lucina engrave), and hammer (ike/roy/hector engrave) for dmg/1-2 rng/anti-armor, and a silver greatlance (roy/ike/hector engrave) incase sword units will break. Greatlance because you're never going to one shot them, double them, or avoid being doubled with normal lances so go for big damage. Last inventory slot is flex for elixir/pure water/hurricane axe for wyverns I guess

General Kagetsu caps at 19 speed around lv12. I would personally recommend swapping him to great knight which caps at 27 speed and doesn’t suffer from 4 mov.

To take the general Kagetsu further, consider axe general for two range with tomahawk and silver great Axe damage. You'd lose S rank access, but are you really running the S rank swords on general Kagetsu?

Starting with axe general and second sealing to sword general when you unlock georgios isn't a bad option. But yes, that S rank sword slaps.

funnily enough i made rosado a general in my maddening run and he was so tanky he was tanking physical and magical units alike, with a refined tomahawk. he took such little damage units would rather walk around him than hit him LOL. although i did put hector on him and used piercing glare so they couldn't. rosado is one of my hard carries.

Hey if you are looking for anymore interesting builds to do I got one that was fun to use. Hexed Blade Fogado. Thief Fogado with dragonic hex from corrin, knife hit/avo from Leif and paired with the Lucina ring for the dual assist.

I mean, you’ve got a green General in Kagetsu… why not pair that with a red General Lapis? She should reach the class’ 20 spd cap, but you could even build her even further if you give her Lyn (+5 from emblem, and speedtaker for a potential +10 more). Maybe even inherit another +5 to turn her into a general who doubles 😂 Sniper Yunaka with Chrom also looks like it would be a very strong build

I did some testing around and also went great knight luise with Hector I paired it up with vantage ++ to get that doubling as soon as possible I use soren to make him a decoy so targets go for him and he gets then hits in once he loses 20%hp

On my first blind run I just f'ing around made Louis a Great Knight as he my primo damage sponge but his low mobility was driving me nuts. Really want to try Kagetsu as a General but my current run is female units only and despite his looks he is, in fact, male.

I am curious on why Genreal for Kagetsu? General maxes out at 17 speed (without taking in any personal stats, Kagetsu gets +2 so a max of 19 without any skills or emblems). Would he not be better as a Wyvern lord or Paladin? Either way cool video. Really digging the Jade build.

I've been trying out Martial Master Jade and it's not near as good as I hoped. Gave her Break Defense and Healing Light. I was hoping that with Break Defense she could reliably take out enemy thieves, archers, and mages but no such luck. She usually does about 75% of their health with Flashing Fists +2. She also regularly get doubled by enemy units and if she doesn't die from one attack, she'll die from the next. She's still a functional member of the team. But not one of my stars. I was hoping her physical defense and offense would've held up better. Currently near the end of the game, Ch. 22 or something...

Aren't you wasting Kagetsu's potentials on a slow class? Interesting though. But who am I to judge when I'm running a mage knight Vander on maddening? 🥲 Veronica's reprisal is seriously pulling him so far on my run. Maybe you should try this too if you're interested on the challenge of using Vander through the whole game.

Well that's the thing with Kagetsu (And by extension Lapis as well) is that they have such good base Spd that even in the general class they can get good Spd lvl and can double slower enemy classes with ease

On maddening I'm using Vander as a Berserker (he has such bad dex that the low dex cap doesnt matter) gave him Lucina, +3 dex skill and Lyn engrave on a +3 Brave Axe, he now hits reliably and often one rounds.

With Jade you could do Ike and do a mage knight. Honestly though Alear makes a REALLY good candidate for that build. 65% HP, 40% str, 45% mag, 55% spd, 45% dex, 50% def, 50% res and 30% luck. It feels really strong in my current playthough. I run both a physical sword and and levin sword with sword power+. With Ike it could run a killer sword for big crits on the physical side and still have a decent crit rate with magic with out DLC. It seems strictly better in DLC though imo.

Definitely Soren. I've tried both, and Jade has issues with strength once you change her off of anything physical, so Hector is gonna be pretty rough.

If you wanted to go for a mixed tank, mixed dps, sure. My concern is the overall magic of MK when Jade's base magic already needs help. She'll also have less res, which makes for an overall different build than what I'm going for here.
