I think the fact that the way the powers system works isn’t explained right away but we get it shown to us over time is actually a really good way to Naturally implement these powers into the world just like when they show that it’s an post apocalyptic world. I was aware of the anime, so I try reading the manga first. I actually thought that they made a scanning mistake or something because it seems like the story is missing a few pages or even chapters. But no, the story really has no flow and just jumps to the next plot point regardless if it's abrupt or not. I can't believe it got an anime at all being this bad. The animation was good, the op really nice, power system is awesome and its a shame that the story was terrible, and I believe the only reason it's even adapted is because the mangaka was the creator of soul eater

I consider myself an objective viewer, thus my action of giving this anime/manga the benefit of the doubt was contrary to my beliefs, yet still I wanted to give it the highest opportunity to prove itself. (I loved Soul Eater!) It just had to be a bit better than the mediocre shows, I'm not asking for much am I? Yet I was disappointed by the absolute failure that is Fireforce. I watched a lot of anime, so I have an understanding of the medium. I watched a lot of shounen genre anime and know what makes them tick. Fireforce failed. Then I thought, maybe I am grew too old? maybe Fireforce like Fairy Tail is mainly focused on a children's audience? But then hey I liked new shows like Jujutsu Kaisen.. So I'm not old to hate anime. Ok so then what was the issue? It says it's a pg-13 show, yet has some strange moments (well anime is always like that) The issue I found out is that the author Atsushi Ookubo is indeed pretty weak. Soul Eater was his magnum opus, he was lucky to catch it at the right time in the right place. He will never make anything better than it. When he sold out and made Soul Eater NOT! We in the anime community got wary. Fireforce was supposed to be his return to grace. Yet I clearly remember when the first chapter of the manga came out in 2015. It missed something. No wonder it took 4 years to adapt to an anime (which is already an achievement mind I say) but not from the creator of Soul Eater. With his success he could have gotten an adaptation sooner. The editors at Jump are not stupid they realizing Fireforce was weak. The good things about the anime? The 1st OP was dope, the sound design and action animation is superb, but all of that to hide the gaping hole that is the story and characters. The story is abysmal, the characters are ridiculous and underdeveloped. Then I thought ok, this anime is not trash bad but simply weak. I sat through worse, what bad could happen if I just wait for the good part to start. It never came. The show was worse than later seasons of Fairy Tail, the story all over the place and worse than even Naruto fillers. How can it be worse than Naruto fillers!?!? This anime is a hype train, a lantern that catches the attention of younger viewers like you. But after it is done, and you start thinking and analyzing, what are you left with? Or are you not thinking at all? Was it of value? Did you spend your time well? FIreforce fails as a Shounen anime, sure there are worse anime out there but FireForce fails as a shounen and that is the most important part. The anime came out the same time as Dr. Stone another shounen anime and look at the results. Dr. Stone every episode was interesting, flew by in seconds. Characters were fun, we had jokes and funny moments. Epic things were epic and had consequences. We started at 0 and ended at 24. Fireforce was forgettable. What happened in episode 14? In 22? In 7? Can you name all characters of importance? We had 24 episodes in season 1 to flesh out the characters and the world and it feels like a damn 12 episode show. And what was that cringe with Hibana? And even worse cringe with Tamaki? At max it is a 3/10 show. 3 out of 10! When 5 is the average. Average means forgettable mediocre white bread. Anything less is trash. We do not remember anything about the show except all it's failures. No wonder we are here right now talking about it. We wouldn't talk about a 5/10 show. I won't lie, second season I am only 6 episodes in and already tired. I am counting the time on the clock. I'd rather re-download god damn Dota and fail at it than watch any more of this show. But I am forcing myself. A mosquito thought in my mind keeps telling me "maybe it will become better" Shounen anime are usually weak at the start... It is 2021. Weakness is not tolerated. Outdated shows die quickly. Masters like Demon Slayer, Jujutsu Kaisen and Dr. Stone rise to become the new Jump giants. Where is Fireforce? Where is Fireforce in Jump? Where are half the viewers of the first season that left? AS I SAID, I came into this show WANTING to like it. I gave it too many chances yet it keeps failing. What am I supposed to do? I have that disappointment in my heart but my brain still gives it a chance, we are in too deep now. I will finish the damn 2nd season and maybe comeback to this threat. But I fear it won't be a "omg you all were right, this show is better than Death Note and FMA, it is highly misunderstood and now we go on a crusade to shove it down our friends throats so they too watch it and join the cult...erm I mean fandom!" I feel like it will be "I knew it was weak and after watching 48 episodes which are 4 whole 12 episode seasons, I can with a clear mind and heart say that it was trash and not worth it!" ... 4 whole 12 episode shows... jeeszus

Just check the scores, Jujutsu Kaisen, MHA, Demon Slayer, Shingeki no kyojin, they're all leagues above this series in all departments statistically speaking. Its okay if you like Fire Force, but nobody here is hating it, it just isn't meeting enough standards for a "good" shonen's criteria in this day and age. It along with Black Clover wasn't innovative enough to gain the same followings as other well renowned masterpieces. People are also allowed to give their opinions on the series without being "haters," that's just the way people who can't deal with being in a minority describe the rest of people to feel better about themselves. Its okay to like something that isn't as popular, you're not going to be shamed for liking the anime when this video isn't about hating the anime, and it isn't about hating the people that watch the anime. Its about discussing how we could or should improve some aspects of the anime. That being said, people are also allowed to dislike the anime, and even say that its bad. I think you're right on all accounts to be honest, I thought this series had a lot of promise and it just squandered it the more it went on. Every interesting idea that starts out seemingly promising in this series is just always ruined by terrible writing and ends up going in the worst possible direction. I really tried to give it a shot but the series just started to drop off hard after episode 14 and the fight with show was fun I guess but season 2 is just a joke honestly.

Most of the jagged looking scenes were for comedic value. Character development happens over time, not in one season. Most of the show tries to be shrouded in mystery so you don’t know everything off the bat. You’re basically thrown into a story with a world that has already been through a lot and has seen a lot. The reason why the smart scientist knows so much is because he’s a smart scientist. Trying to base world building as bad writing is bad in itself. You’d probably hate any Gainax anime because they do the same thing with how they present their worlds. If you’re so hellbent on getting to the points as quickly as you want, then read the manga. Calling something “terrible” for a pet peeve you have is also something you need to get over. Not the show.

I get stories such as AOT, Death Note, monster, Demon Slayer etc has spoiled our standards for anime but if anything fire force has issues w pacing. The symbolism & lure/world building in light of S2 is on par with FMAB and this is better than soul eater tbh, there’s a ton of depth built into the story. Honestly i loved Fore force. They give you a hook and slowly give you information. I can't relate to them "dumping" information. Alot of stuff is sprinkled. For example alot of the other fire stations will compete with each other over the origin and fixing spontaneous combustion. When they invade the other station they get more info. We see Joker pretty early on and assume he is a antagonist.

I just finished the first season and this video literally 100% encapsulates every single thought I had on this series... I don't care about any character because I don know them. They have no motivation or backstory and the exposition just feels so incredibly janky! I will have forgotten it next week. It feels like the series has no confidence in itself whatsoever. The lewd scenes feel so forced and I had to laugh out loud while watching the first few episodes with my friends because of the exposition dumps. e.g.: In the first episode the main character just straight up tells us that in stressful moments he cant help himself to have a big grin on his face. Why couldn't we get a cute character moment where the show SHOWS us this character quirk. Show, don't tell is how it should be but all the informations are just told to us. The world building? Two guys chilling in room just saying exposition to each other THEY BOTH SHOULD ALREADY KNOW! They are in the freaking "Fire Force" They should know how their Job works...!!! It really is a shame though. The premise is reall cool and you would easily have enough material and Ideas for this to be a long running show. The whole fire power concept is really intriguing and the show looks AMAZING (if you disregard the cg fires and cars etc.) The coreography and the effects are great.

I think in terms of the overall story and character it’s fair to say that they are all pretty bad. The place the show shines is artistic detail (when it’s bad it’s bad but when it’s good it’s pretty damn good) and climatic fight scenes (although sometimes they are just insane but still cool to look at) which can carry a shounen. I think if you’re judging it’s objective quality as a piece of media it’s bad, but I think we’ll choreographed fight scenes that are hype af can justify an anime being enjoyable (they’re my favorite part). Also the OP Inferno is hype af and one of the best I’ve ever heard.

I absolutely agree with your points..I’m already on the second season and I like the dark setting but it feels iffy to me and I mean the show in general..I’m Christian and I never really complain about this in shows and anime too and idk wether it’s just me who thinks this or not but idk why but their religion is annoying to me..it’s like they constantly have to shove that down your throat and usually when Iris starts the prayers, they end off with which ever character is gonna end the infernals life..which gets old after the 2nd time, just like those scenes where tamaki somehow trips and all her clothes come off..I never knew any of their names after hearing them say their names a few times..like Hinawa (the guy with the glasses which I’d say he’s probably one of my favorite characters lol..) but throughout the show, it feels rushed (time wise) and poorly set when it comes to new characters popping up and some of the joke scenes are cliche..

So first of all I like that you also think that Maki is best girl. Other than that I have to critisize some of your arguments. I don't really get why you are allways saying that you don't get to know certaint things until episode X and that you don't really get to understand anything. Bro I don't know what your definition of world building is, but normally you don't get everything thrown at your face in the first episode. Like which anime gives you all infos in the first episode and then never developes anything after that? It is completly normal that you get more infos about the world and its powers as the story keeps on going. In One Piece you also don't get all infos about all kind of powers in the first episode. You basically only get to know about Haki after the time skip. Yout point about the fight between Sho and Shinra also is completly irritating. You basically say that a scientist is observing them fight. Someone you literally knows about all kinds of pyrokinetic powers and like normal science stuff. He is part of company 8 so why shouldn't he know how Shinras power works, like you said? That makes absolutly no sense. Licht is one of the smartest characters concerning pyrokinesis and stuff, of course he could figure out Sho's power. Like Sho suddenly stands somewhere else after he used his blade. How is it not obvious then that his power has something to do with time? Licht thinks of heat and time then, everything after that should be easily done for a smartass scientist like him. If you think that the cuts in the show are irritating then you probably have never seen Shaft. This studio is known for these cuts, maybe it's just your taste then. In my opinion they are perfect to emphasize the scene. Now about the characters: I can easily do a One Piece comparison here again. You think that it's dumb that Shinra and Arthur always fight, have you ever seen Zoro and Sanji? It's basically the same rivalry. I can't really say anything good about Tamaki unfortunatly. As it seems she doesn't seem to play any major role in the manga for quite some time as I have heard from some manga readers. I can understand that you want to know more about the characters and that it is quite heavy with all those new characters being added. But first of all, that is a big point about world building. First of all, I want to thank you for taking the time to write all that. I love it when something I make can start a conversation like this, whether we agree about it or not. I won’t go point for point, but there are a few big ones I want to address. I never expect an ongoing narrative to explain everything to me in the first episode. Hitting the audience with an info dump is usually bad writing, and I’d rather learn everything little by little as the story unfolds…and for the record, I think Fire Force season 1 had a pretty good first episode overall. That said, season 1 was 26 episodes long, and that’s a lot of time…hell, it’s over twice as long as a lot of shows get. Even if the plan is to have multiple seasons, 26 episodes is more than enough time to deliver important information organically. If there are consequences to using pyrokenisis that everyone in the show already knows, then the audience should know too, and it shouldn’t take 75% of the season before they get around to telling us. The same goes for the state of the world. The first scene that introduced us to Shinra and Company 8 took place in what looked like a fairly modern city, and the concept of “present day, but with powers” is all over pop culture…look at Marvel, look at most of shonen anime. The little world building done in the first three or so episodes of Fire Force made it look like another one of those, and we were never shown or told anything that would suggest otherwise…until an abrupt info dump. The last thing I’ll say is that I’m never looking for ways to tear something, or someone, down. I’d much rather spend my time praising what I love…hell, for a while there I thought about just making this a video about how much I love Maki. But I couldn’t in good conscience talk about how great she is without also acknowledging what I feel to be big problems with the show she comes from, because just praising the good parts without calling out the bad parts wouldn’t be honest. That’s all this is, me giving my honest read of Fire Force. It doesn’t need a disclaimer, because that’s what all videos/articles/analysis/reviews are…one person telling you what they think.

I agree with literally everything you said. This entire series from it's characters, writing, power system is so asininely written, and the worst part is that it's made by Atushi Okhubo, the mastermind creator of Soul Eater, one of the most underrated shounen anime ever, with a female main protagonist and one of the best female shounen casts ever assembled. And said protagonist, Maka Albarn, is one of the best shounen protagonists of all time. It boggles my mind how someone who made such an amazing first manga, made a second series that is not only a downgrade, but an absolute dumpster fire in literally every aspect, when Soul Eater nailed all of them. It's like he completely ran of creative juice after Soul Eater and just said "screw it," and stopped trying. It's infuriating to watch. And you didn't get into Shinra. He's so boringly generic it hurts, and it straight up copies Deku's motivation to be a superhero when this isn't even a superhero story, nor the main goal of the series. And even the fight scenes are lame. They're just non-stop overwhelming bursts of power with bad choreography nor any competent writing behind them. So many of them are just fights for the sake of fighting. There's no character development or any story progression behind them. It's just all flash with no substance. I hate this series so much. Whenever I see any clip of this series, it immediately puts me in a bad mood, so watching you rip it apart is so satisfying. :)

When he says he wants to be a hero that's the most shallowest coverup ever to how his character should actually be written. He's literally had one of the worst childhoods imaginable and got blamed for his mother and siblings death, that motivation he has to be a "hero" Is some shallow shit the writer slaps together in an attempt to make him likeable or relatable. If this was even semi-realistic Shinra would've been screwed in the head and probably would've spent years in rehabilitation especially since he was openly disowned by his grandparents right to his face after the fact. After all of this we never see what motivated him to train for the fire academy. Only that once at a picnic he pretended to be a superhero and that was when his family was still alive and loved him. SOOOO who the f*ck was his rolemodel? why is he so resilient despite being treated like garbage since childhood? His motivation doesn't add up, it seems like he is literally stealing Deku's more plausible motivation, but it's never f*cking explored??? its straight shallow and terrible expense of simple words that should be "relatable" like HERO is something we can all resonate with while blindly overlooking where he even gets this shitty cop out idea from in his one dimensionally terrible life. Also, I can spot MANY instances in that fight where they just lacked animation altogether, attacks lacking any impact, they both were treated like styrofoam flying and flinging each other around into pillars, barely getting scratched but coughing fountains of blood, confusing perspectives, zero detail on the close interactions because they for some reason chose speed instead of weight and impact. I get that the characters are moving really fast in this fight, but that doesn't mean they had to cut out all of the impacts with weird motion blurs and jagged transitions. There's no distance gauging between landing positions, so it looks like the characters could be getting flung for miles and we wouldn't even be able to know how far it was in some transitions.

personally i still feel like the writing in itself doesn't suck too bad I just think the art and its execution together with the story such as the adolla link scenes are very well made and it's pretty cool and as random as the concept is I feel like it wasn't butchered as bad as it could've. still hate how badly women are treated in this anime I mean I dropped it twice before picking it back up like two years late lmao like it's simply not funny and tamaki as a character only has purpose for fanservice and captain hibana's only purpose is to be a shinra simp and give iris a little tiny bit of character development only for her to be reduced to the weak woman trope and become shinra's main love interest... love maki and the whole thing that's going on with her as well as Arrow who's just got top tier character design but everything feels a bit left unfinished and the girls are portrayed horribly imo. its a shounen anime in the end so i can see why it's happening but on this scale it's sickening tbh love this anime though the animation and sound design carries it farther than it would've without it for sure personally i love arthur's character development and it becomes obvious at some point that being a knight isn't a roleplay thing but it's actually his delusions from when his parents left him at a very young age and it's probably his unconscious coping strategy and it's even better that his pyrokinetic abilities depend on it. Amazing show with amazing pacing. No long drawn out arcs, with quick snappy combat, playful subversion of anime tropes, stunning animation and a little too much fan service. The restrictive story telling works brilliantly for a viewer based experience, revealing information naturally as it becomes relevant to the story while avoiding the ever annoying "origin story" where the audience must watch the hero start at nothing as to be spoon fed the setting. Having distinctive characters also is not a negative in this style of story telling. Focusing on narrative progression, it promotes simple characters with distinct characteristics such that the story has more time to develop them rather than trying to figure out who is who.

I feel like we have some double standards sometimes with anime. Like we will suspend our disbelief for a show that is considered good, but when a show is considered bad we hold it to a much higher standard for some reason. To me this show falls into the category of dont take it too seriously and just enjoy the popcorn and entertainment. Does it matter that it doesnt have the most compelling world building or character development or plot exploration right out of the gate? Sure there are some lazy elements, but i didnt watch it to be critical or angry. I just thought wow what a ridiculous show. Also the whole male power fantasy suggestion is quite a leap on your part. Modern day feminism in itself is cancerous due to its manipulative nature and how it spreads division so it shouldnt be a surprise that feminism ruins most of what it touches but thats mainly cause those types of stories are built on the premise of narrative over substance. In fire force the female characters are well written. Maki gets a story arc where she tries to balance her life ambition and how this clashes with her families views and honestly it presents itself as an internal struggle for her that is quite relatable. Sister Iris is truly the heart of the group. We get glimpses of her past and it certainly looks dark and yet the horrific experience did not define her in the way someone might have expected. For those who ha e suffered loss and know what its like to lose faith whether it be in god, in people, in the world or simply in oneself. Sister Iris as a character is well written because she can be fun, compassionate, light hearted but she can also show people the power behind ones strength of convicition. She shows them that the bad things in life dont have to define you and people who are willing to try can rise above. Meanwhile Tamaki gets almost naked cause she is clumsy to a fault and she does this quite often. Yeah sometimes it can pull attention away from the story and although I do like me some fan service I think there is more to it. Tamaki developed her power based on how she saw herself and what she valued and this is how her power literally manifested. Now consider when she strips her clothes. It happens usually when she is stressed or when she is trying to be taken seriously which also stresses her out due to how she feels about herself. One could describe her as feeling naked and vulnerable during times of stress and your literally seeing it manifest for her in her clumsy actions and yet she stayed mostly clothed during two of her biggest moments in season 2 and this happened in moments when she became more determined and self reliant. Now I'm not saying that these are the only interpretations of these characters but that's how I see them and that says to me that they are well written and the story is put together well. It has layers where as the feminist style animes oversimplify ideas and try to tell you what to believe or they try to paint very specific pictures of good and evil in the conflicts. But again these are just my thoughts on the matter...but don't mind me cause I'm just getting off on my male power fantasy or whatever..

Wow. I didn't realize that he also created Soul Eater. I've never read or watched it but it's been on my list for about a decade now. I agree with some of the points but I feel that they wanted to create some mystery around the world and build up to the reveal that the antagonist is responsible for everything. But I agree that they should've done more to explain that there was a cataclysmic event and society has rebuilt and now the world is plagued by the combustion and no one knows why. As for the treatment of women, personally I didn't really there was really that much fan service other than the Tamaki character, and while it was funny at first, it did become kinda annoying later. But other than her, I think they did characters like Iris, Maki, and the flower chick well. But that could just be me seeing the service in so much anime, I've just grown to accept it as a Japanese culture thing. But in terms of blatant fan service, I think tamaki was the main character that could've been done better. And for the graphical stuff, I think that's common in the animation industry. The use single shots with dialogue as mainly a budget and time thing. I saw a video about that topic awhile back. Because they have to pump those episodes out on a schedule, they cut corners like that, so it's not just a fire force thing. I got a lot of insight here. I searched for why no one watches the show since I had a blast with it and thought the story and characters were great. Really good insight and a lot of it makes sense.

I've read up to 97% of the manga as of this post and I gotta say it doesn't get better. They keep introducing characters but spend little to no time developing them. There are some goods parts (e.g., Company 2 raiding the undergrounds) but that's it. The author raises the stakes by introducing world ending mechanisms, but nothing feels personal to me because I can't identify with any of the characters since almost no one get development. Characters that seemed unimportant to the narrative suddenly become key players and it feels random and unearned. Seems like the author is more interested in world building concepts and not character writing. 3.5/10

Okay: Things I hate: Tamaki and Vulcan. Saying that FF is a "terrible" Anime just represents your opinion, which I respect.. but I do still get the 'im a whiny wannabe anime-critic" -vibes from your video. Of course, the Story writing isn't at peak, but I don't think it is as bad as you describe it. Some characters of the show are downright trash, but it for me they do not pull the show down in any significant way.. So: The Story is OK and the Characters are good for the most part, but the thing that convinced to watch the show the most, was THE ANIMATION OF THE FIGHTS and THE SOUND-DESIGN. I am amazed by the Fight-Scenes and the unique Sound that YASUMAS A KOYAMA brought to the show. Fire Force was awesome but now (season 2) feels a bit bland... Here's a basic arc's storyline: Find the next pillar, try to talk to him/her, new season villains show up, oh look there's the White Clad again specifically the Lightning girl and the big indestructible black guy who Shinra tries to fight again, and now a tough Infernal is created, while the fight is going on in one place other characters try to go look for the pillar and are attacked, move back and forth between fights.... I do like some of the fights (the ones that don't drag on), Shinra vs Sho high speed fight was awesome. A character who I though I would dislike at first but is actually extremely cool is Benimaru.

You pretty much describe all the points on how I feel about Fire Force. The fights scenes and literally Maki herself was the only good things that's shown but everything else I just could not get into. Arthur and Shinra annoys me, Tamaki only exist as fan service and even when she gets some character development it becomes nothing later on and she still goes back into a fan service damsel in distress, the guy that never blinks creeps me out, outside of fight scenes there are alot of scenes where walking animation looks bland, characters are almost always shown without a face when they speak as it goes into a background scenery and the characters dont even move around as well, the villains I didnt enjoy so much they can be creepy for no reason or just psychotic for the sake of being psychotic, and there's always a long moment of silence in alot of scenes without much of background music to cover it.

Arthur actually using his imagination to make himself stronger was hilarious. And he's a flame sword user; Top tier. Shinra goes from trash to mid pretty quick, don't like his quirk of smiling like a demon when he's nervous, and the bickering gets tiresome. His fight with his brother is epic, only to be defused in the next episode. Just purely annoying. Everything else is fine, the women are strong; healers, blasters, and fighters. However, they do mention that said powers require both mental and physical strength, women are naturally weaker than men, so of course the writer is going to lean into it. Not a big deal really, considering they give the girls their props, and are clearly vital. Its just mid all around however, and that's the problem. The MC is boring, the costumes are dull and they constantly derail action with comedy too much. The definition of a purely 5/10 show.

The exposition and wild science dumps use to piss me off. Now I’ve lived in japan for 14 years and there is an unspoken rule that if you are into it you will watch it. So they expect a lot of background dedication on their fans behalf like reading manga and being on 2chan and discussing the story. Afterwards when something gets made into an anime the fans who love it and those who don’t usually say “shouganai.” Shouganai is like saying “well can’t go back now,” gotta start here and if I wanna learn more then I will. As far as problems with nudity and women I get it and I understand but those things you call problems are the artist getting to do what they want. GLAMP an all women anime and manga company here in japan get to do the same with mens bodies in their manga and animes. No one is censored and guess what? Anime and manga is destroying western comics in sales because of it.

@its cat i mean fan service doesn't always ruin a show unless it's in a scene where it dlshoyld be. Like in the first season when tamaki was completely naked while shinra and rekka were fighting, that was completely unnecessary. That scene felt like "if there are no tits no one is gonna watch it"

Fire force is meh on its own but the fact that it's trying to replace/improve soul eater doesn't sit right with me. Soul Eater (at least the manga) is a master piece which needs no replacing. its what introduced me to anime/manga and without it i wouldn't have a lot of my creative ideas/characters i have now. Soul Eater was a once in a lifetime creation and it's impossible to replace. the fact that now "Maka" is just used as fan service i also hate. Maka was the greatest female protagonist i've ever seen. no matter in the manga or in the anime she's REALLY cool. I have a great love for soul eater and in my opinion Fire Force will never come close to it

I agree that Tamaki is unnecessary fan service, but you are being way too harsh on the rest of the show. Sure, not all the females are strong and capable like Maki, but women in real life aren't all like Maki. The female characters are unique and diverse in their own way. Captain Hibana doesn't fit your description of other female characters. She is powerful, albeit less frequently on screen. Iris and Tamaki fit your description to an extent. Iris is shown as being weaker and sometimes helpless in situations, but she doesn't need to be strong all the time. She also has her moments of strength as in the nether when she hits the guy with a pipe. Tamaki is annoying and could definitely be portrayed better, it does appear that she'll be having a much better presence come s3. You're being unfairly biased towards other female characters for not being Maki and not being represented like the men are, but that's the thing, they aren't Maki and they aren't men. The abilities of characters are creative and well thought-out, which is commendable since they limited their options severely by having all abilities be fire and heat based. Yes the characters with their personalities involving 1 main trait are annoying, but they're only a handful and many animes have characters, even protagonists, that only have one main thing to their personalities, but we don't notice since they're not as strange as the ones in Fire Force. It's an amazing and well written show

I'm halfway through season 1 and apart from maki and maybe beninaru the whole cast is so bland it's painful the shoehorned fan service isn't helping either Yh the fights are great but that's all it's got going for it. IMO

Personally I think the best way to experience fire force is read the manga And look up the anime fight scenes and just skimm or just flat out skip the fan service
