Hey! Just a tip from a fellow South Carolinian, these blue and stone crabs out here don't want fresh bait... may sound a little weird, but the nastier the better! I usually go buy some chicken necks or thighs and let them sit outside for about a day till their good and nasty and it never fails! As always, bring gloves, but they will come running!

I’ve seen a tool used to make stone crabs release their claws, apparently ripping them off can kill them, but with the tool the crab will release the claw and grow another one. Just something you might want to look into if you start catching them a bunch, will possibly cut down on negative comments. Keep up the entertaining videos.
@dwayneb722 жыл бұрын
You can use the pincher point of another crab and it will release or a flat head screwdriver or any pointed knife they will naturally release the claw as a defense mechanism..ripping them like he did can tear their shoulder joint out and kill them since it is torquing on their shell at a weird angle and they can't release it from that joint
@TriangleNsky2 жыл бұрын

Its kinda wild how many kids watch you and ace. I’ve seen quite a few in the stream chats. 10 years ago fishing was a dying art. Between the covid shutdowns and people havin nothin to do and popular youtubers like you guys, fishin is makin a big comeback! My family runs a fishin and camping store here in portland oregon. Fisherman’s marine and outdoor. There really has been a big resurgence. I went down to a local beach on the columbia river last weekend and the weekend before. So spring chinook season ended july 13th now you can only keep clipped steelhead. Usually the scene kinda dies when the season ends. There weren’t very many boats. 10 years ago most the fisherman around here were boat people. The plunking scene was pretty weak. I tell ya. There were probably 100 people lining the shore in the deeper spots. Young people, partying and hanging out. People who cant afford boats. I’m tellin ya. Its a thing. Lotta young people fishin. Its a really cool thing.

I mark my fishing rod's at certain intervals with a pointy Sharpie, not a real thick one. Like 10, 12, 15, 18, 21, 23, 26, 28, 32, 36" . I never have to look for something to measure with. I know guys are kinda picky with what they will/will not do to their rods. I don't buy really expensive ones, so it's no problem for me. Plus, I know what rod belongs to me. Fishing rod. I'm a lady. Always.

You guys are both wrong. Look up oyster cracker, oyster catcher, and bar dog, oyster toad fish, or just toad fish. They have dorsal spines like catfish, with venom that will feel like a bee or wasp bite. NASA sent 2 toad fish into space in 1998 to learn about antigravity effects effects on the vestibular system(balance). Class dismissed.

Don't know if anyone's mentioned this but the blue crabs that have the stained coloration to them which we've always called rusties are the more desirable ones. They are the ones that will have the most meat inside due to them being closer to molting.

You know Stone Crabs are like an actually delicacy people will pay upwards of a hundred dollars for. I remember watching a Business Insider video about Stone Crabs and how valuable they are, and they are extremely sought after in Florida, Cuba, and the Bahamas!
@iamtheone22922 жыл бұрын
For what reason do they taste better than other crabs?
@hoovnutss2 жыл бұрын
@@iamtheone2292 To fish for them, commercial fisherman go miles of shore, with upwards of 1,000 lbs of bait (mainly pig's feet, which can be $1,000 to buy all of the bait) and harvesting them is very labor intensive. Removing the legal claws from the crabs, and sorting them out takes a very long time. It is just an expensive product that people are willing to play lots of money for. Here's the video I watched. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eoG4Xp5uZ5h1htU
