Good footage there bud. Say - how do you get up on the roof so often? Do you just walk through the front door and up the stairs, or do you have to ask someone to let you up? Figured next time I'm in the Big Apple I could get up on some roofs.

I wonder always, why the FDNY has Breathing apparatus when they do not use them inside of a burning house? Even if there is only A small amount of smoke it could be toxic.
@AugustF154 жыл бұрын
Because of the carcinogens burned inside the homes, they use the SCBA to protect themselves from that.
@timasbell1084 жыл бұрын
They’ve got a job to do, and with the SCBA on, you’re lucky if you have 10-15 min of workable air before your bottle is empty. If it’s a light smoke condition, you try to conserve the air in your bottle until you absolutely need it.
@honeybadger41604 жыл бұрын
@@timasbell108 You make absolutely no sense. What are you talking about?
@chiefrich18044 жыл бұрын
This comes up a lot. Here in NYC firefighters are taught to conserve air when they can. And the simplest reason for this is, it's a long hump back to the truck (or MSU), to get another, especially in a tenement as big as this one is. This problem has been kicked around by the FDNY commissioners and chiefs sence the FD first started using SCBA's in 1974, and it's been found that there is no other way, save your air, that's it, because firefighters and civilians alike here in NYC have died because a firefighter did not do that.
@timasbell1084 жыл бұрын
Honeybadger 4 Pretty much what I said, (I don’t know how I can explain it a more simplistic manner). See Chief Rich’s reply, he is elaborating on what I said. To add to his point, once you’re out of air and out, the chances of you getting back into the game are significantly less. Save your bottle as long as you can, (within reason).

We learn in school to close all windows and doors before leaving a room or Building in case of a Fire... why they smash all windows and Open all doors at the very First????
@MB121164 жыл бұрын
In school you are trying to contain the fire and make is spread slower. Once the firemen get there, they will open window(smash/vent) and that is to remove smoke and heat from the building to make it safer for the firemen.
