FDNY Fire trucks responding lights, sirens, air horns and Q-sirens compilation.
On May 2, 1865, New York City established the Metropolitan Fire Department (MFD) which became Fire Department City of New York in 1870. FDNY is the busiest fire department in the United States. In fact, FDNY responds to more working structural fires than the fire departments of Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Houston and Boston combined. In 2014, FDNY responded to 26,531 working structural fires and 15,512 non-structural fires. That's over 42,000 fires a year or 115 fires a day. Of these 42,000 fires, 2,307 of them were "All Hands" (major fires). In other words, FDNY handles, on average, over six All-Hands fires a day or one every four hours. Enjoy these Fire Truck sirens responding to emergencies in NYC
See the FDNY 2014 statistics here:
www.nyc.gov/htm...
Meanwhile, in the rest of the country . . .
According to a 2011 New York Times article, Chicago had less than 2,500 structural fires in 2008, down from 5,700 in 1996. Los Angeles Fire Department, according to its website, had 8,068 structural fires in 2013. The Philadelphia Fire Department had 1,828 structural fires in 2007 and 1,796 structural fires in 2008 according to the department's own performance report. In 2010, the entire state of Texas had 20,595 structural fires -- less than New York City. According to a 2013 Boston Globe article, the Boston Fire Department had 40 "major fires" in 2012, down from 417 in 1975.
In the entire United States of America there were 487,500 structural fires in 2013 according to the National Fire Protection Association. If we use the 2014 statistics for FDNY (26,531 structural fires), we see that 5.44% of the total number of structural fires in the country occur in New York City alone. In other words, more than 1 out of 20 structural fires in the entire country occurs in New York City.

On May 2, 1865, the Metropolitan Fire Department was formed. Five years later the name was changed to FDNY and today the department is celebrating 150 years of service to the City of New York. This is a collection of videos in tribute to the firefighters of FDNY.

Happy 150th Birthday FDNY for last year! ;) 1865-2015. That was a brilliant compilation with some gorgeous trucks, great airhorn usage and nice onscene action. Funnily enough it's London Fire Brigade's 150th Anniversary this year (2016), 1866-2016. Rescue 1 is just all out there with its horns, sirens, lights and movement! Gotta love 'em. Oops at 11:39 with their car in the way like that! Silly!

Here is an idea. MAYBE! you shouldn't use a colour on emergency viechles, that is on EVERY car, and EVERY traffic light......

Eh. Some 30-40 years ago, there was a move to do just that, and you saw departments with white, yellow or (Blecch!) lime green trucks. Even FDNY tested a couple of lime green rigs. A lot of departments eventually went back to red. After all, when you ask a child "What color is a fire truck?", what answer are they likely to give?
