This firearm is the birthright of every American. Real shame it took a foreign company to make it so accessible. This gun has been ridiculously overpriced for far too long, and in it's most basic form presented here is exactly what you need. I do kinda feel the sights are much too small, however.

Tisas is a company like many others that use CNC machining. The CNC machining process makes it hard to get it wrong because if a 1911 manufacturer gets it wrong their out of the aftermarket game period. Tisas also if proof you don’t have to be a big boy name brand to get it right.

First handgun I shot was a 1911 when I was 14, since then I have spent many years shooting and building them, 50 so far. I own Govt. models and Commanders, IPSC stock class pistols and I just finished a 5" Super 38 for carry. At my local smiths shop I was asked if I had ever seen a Tisas. I hadn't but my smith said they were selling like hotcakes and he had a 9mm Commander and when he told me it could be mine for $390 I wasn't impressed until I found out it had a forged frame and slide and it fit tight. The bonus was the trigger, crisp and breaking at 3.5 lbs. I had to try it out. Not a big fan of cheap 1911's I consider the Ruger SR1911 to be a starting point, you can't imagine my surprise after my first mag in the Tisas. I can't build one that cheap and it shot as well as anything I had in my safe. After a week of shooting it I returned to purchase a 5" Govt. Model 45 with the same outcome, very impressed and happy. IMHO the best bang for the buck out there and that "Tanker" 9mm model just speaks to me.

The tisas now comes with colt internals, including a hammer, forged 5 inch barrel that can be swapped out for a threaded one, the original colt trigger, and the springs have been upgraded since the first release the front side post now so it’s a little bit lower, making it easier to get a target acquisition, it is a 100 yard gun reliably! They have stepped their game up with the 1911 A1 model they have a cheaper model and they have the 9 mm model but the 1911 A1 if you check with the new ones that are out today 2022 much nicer much better feel and are only limited to the shooter

Absolutely. Mil Spec 1991's really nail me. Just recently ordered two Tisas 1911's and will be ordering El Paso Saddlery's 1911 holsters and magazine pouch next month. They are great for point shooting, ie. shooting without reference to sights. I personally notice a GREAT difference between series 70 and series 80 trigger pulls. FWIW, 2" at 25 yards is a great group, especially with the standard sights. My agency's specs were a max of 3" at 25 yards for .40 S&W side arms.

A Tisas Special Purpose I got about two weeks ago. The older Springfield and the Tisas are equal quality as far as I can tell. The Special Purpose is not quite a true A1 because it has the 1911 flat main spring housing. Getting the arched main spring housing from SDS. I have one of these also their weak spot is the hammer. It’s mim and the ridges don’t seem sharp. I changed all the springs out for a wilson combat kit, added a wilson shok buff, a colt custom shop 1911 sear spring and colt reproduction 1911a1 hammer(you can get from numrich). Lastly i added new old stock usgi 1911a1 grips that were never used since the tisas ones were a little too light in color vs originals. It’s amazing what the hammer change and spring/sere spring combo did. Now the trigger is amazing. Under $60 to make a good gun great. I bought a pile of usgi mags as well for cheap. One of my favorite range guns now. Edit: I see you mentioned the grips in the video. There’s ones on ebay for $12-$18. And usgi mags for $15-$18. I have a pile of wilsons as well but love using the usgi ones with this one.

Tisas creates a really solid "retro" 1911 if you're into that sort of thing.

Im not sure how well it will hold up but it would be nice to get a 1000 round review from you about this gun. Its a damn good gun but Im now more interested in the longevity of the gun. The frame and slide seem to be very solid and well forged. However I replaced a few parts on mine that I know would be a problem. Mostly the MIM firing pin stop. I dont like MIM firing pin stops and I recommend to everyone getting a Wilson Combat forged steel firing pin stop unless you enjoy your firing pin shooting back in your face when you least expect.

I don’t think it’s Cerakote. No Cerakoted gun I’ve owned absorbs oil like this gun. If it’s not true Parkerized, it’s very close.

Hey guys! I’m a little late watching the video. I just stumbled across it recently. Thanks for putting out such great content! I can tell you, from inside knowledge at SDS Imports, this 1911A1 model has a Cerekote finish. The newest 1911A1 models hitting the stores over the next few weeks will have an actual parkerized finish, though. Btw, Check out our new 1911 Duty and Carry models in 9mm that recently hit the shelves. Those are some sweet shooting pistols!

The only thing I wanna do to mine is put some ww2 style wooden gi grips on it. The stock plastic ones are like what they used as replacements during Vietnam, but way cheaper quality so they gotta go. That and don’t treat it like it’s fragile and let it get wear and petina this will looks sweet and be a perfect shooter VS bringing out more collectible ww2 ones I don’t wanna shoot a lot.

I like a decent budget 1911, as long as its forged, and built properly, it's a real solid firearm. Yes, its old school, but I like old school. Old school always works, tried and true. My Rock has always been faithful. You know I probably dumped 5-6,000 rds through it in the 10 years I've owned it and I can't say I've ever had a real serious non magazine related issue. Paid 500$ for it, and the old vet I bought it from even threw in a nifty leather holster. Not bad for a first handgun.
@FirearmFreedom3 жыл бұрын
Nice man! That’s a great data point, ya I have heard really nothing but awesome stuff about Rock island guns
@Sam_the_Sham_and_the_Pharoahs3 жыл бұрын
@@FirearmFreedom it was the first Rock Island I bought, and now I have 3. A 1911 in 10mm and a VR80 in 12ga. All three of them have never given me any problems outside of the VR80 needing a little breaking in due to a tight spring. But even that wasn't really anything, and I wouldn't even call it a "breaking in period" one box of cheap 3" later shes running like a champ. And the 10mm was a champ straight out of the box. The only thing is, you can't limp wrist it. I had a couple of ladies I took out, and their first few shots failed to cycle properly because of this. After they got the rhythm, it never happened again, but this can happen. Not really a firearm or manufacturer defect.

got one just recently from Palmetto state. And mine is marked less than yours is it seems Tisas actually watches the youtube reviews and has improved on its format. I love how clean the one I got is. No marking on the Slide release side. Only a Tisas Knoxville TN with import / serial number very small. Its the best Clone money can buy. And best get them before Uncle Joe bans the import of them

I just picked one up yesterday, excited about running it and getting acquainted with it. I love those little WWII correct safeties, but I'm a lefty. Does anyone know where I can get an ambidextrous safety in that style? I think it would be great, if not entirely accurate, to keep it as close to "original " as I could. As far as the finish, I'm seeing a lot of references on line to the effect that it's Cerakote finish, rather than Parkerized, although nothing from the manufacturer or from SDS.
