Lovely attention to detail. Like keeping the match off of the matchlock until the pan was loaded with powder and safely closed again. Very nice.

I was gonna say, the rolling block firearm is featured in this mod and that’s pretty old but I’m guessing you mean by those old hole guns that usually needed to be effectively fired by two people and they didn’t even have a stock.

Really nice mod! Unlike weapon mods of another well known voxel blocky survival game, this one actually fits to the theme of the game and does not seem to break it's balance too much. Absolutely love it

Since the game technically has ages, and the latest age is basically an iron age, im actually suprised they dont have these types of weapons in the base game. They fit it so well

I think the reason these weapons fit well is because they fit with the ethos of Vintage Story. Each part is of course made individually, even the bullets are poured individually, and so on. So if they do much more damage than any sword, you've earned it

Really well done mod. Honestly gives me hope for the future of modding in this game. The loading and carry animations are top notch, though I can't say the same for the sound or animation of firing the guns. They're a bit underwhelming. Remember these are .50 cal + weapons using almost 10 grams of powder, with no action to dampen the recoil. They should sound like thunder and kick like a mule.

@@jizzchugger I regularly fire a .50 wheellock rifle, it's just as loud if not louder than most other guns, and it's a fairly mid sized rifle, with a magnum load of 150 grains. Black powder makes a deep boom, modern smokeless guns tend to make a whip-crack.

I've played with mods that add simple muskets and flintlock firearms, and they do fit pretty well. They've been really averse to adding anything like that to the base game though, even going so far as to threaten servers that have guns as part of their premise. I think even a simple flintlock would be too much for Microsoft.

I didn't know some flintlock weapons used a crank, so i googled and it turned out a gun named Lorenzoni, can hold 7 rounds and you use the crank to load the bullets with the black powder.

A Lorenzoni Is a specific style of weapon, it's one of the first of its type, a repeating black powder handgun What you're looking for is the Wheelock system, came after the matchlock and made guns that much more practical as now you could have a handgun loaded and ready to go instead of needing to take care of a lit match to fire the gun, but Wheelocks were mechanically complex and delicate and where mostly used for pistols, which already weren't a common military handgun (cavalry use for the most part) What made firearms truly practical and easy to use were the flintlock and the percussion system but for those we'd have to wait for the 1700s and the 1840s specifically

What happens if you interrupt the animation by swapping to another slot? Is the reloading voluntary or automatic?

It will stop reload. If you already loaded a bullet into muzzle, you wont need to do it again though and will be able to just prime it.

Not enough BAM and BANG. It would also look cooler with much greater recoil from the weapon and flames escaping from the barrel. Without all this, this mod looks wooden and plastic. If you finish it, it will be sweet!

if you are not aware, this is a game called vintage story, not minecraft it was built from the ground up so the devs could write everything they needed, which includes optimizations, map sizes, and render sizes minecraft doesnt dare try believe my last world last time i played had the height scaled to 2048 blocks from build limit to.. whatever is actually at the bottom, i've never gotten to it

very whel done and all the steps are acurate. only one thing to think about this is not a critesisem but just soethinh i notesed. the whheal lock semed to be a lower tier why. wheal locs came after the match lock. agen not a critesisem just some ting i saw and wonderd about.

Wheel locks and match locks mostly coexisted. And all guns in the mod a viable and have their own uses, so pistol dont become obsolete, and is just an option earlier in material progression for clockmaker (recipe for wheellock require tinkerer trait) or if you buy lock itself from a trader.
