13:30 Soviet Cold war era tank machineguns had so-called 'impulse' shots counter, as I can understand, operated by gun recoil. So I think, it's possible to place something like that in modern holo-sight. Counter reset may work, say, by pressing the magazine catch, in the same way, as laser pointer button on the trigger.
@jonathanferguson12113 жыл бұрын
Shot counters are already a thing in some armed forces, but are only read by armourers to help with maintenance schedules. There is a shot-counter slide available for Glocks complete with digital readout on the read. I'm sure it's only a matter of time before someone puts one in an optic. @@jonathanferguson1211 If that smart rail is really "smart", the sight could be receiving the round count from the rifle with other relevant information. The ammo counting could even happen in the magazine itself and be sent to the rifle through some interface in the mag well. The magazine could use a pressure sensor or measure the position of the follower somehow. It would account even for partially loaded magazines. The same goes for the range information. The rangefinder could be a part of the sight but a standalone unit could also be mounted elsewhere on the rail and sending the range information to the gun and connected accessories.

Great analysis. Its good to see that soemone knows what theyre actually talking about and that 'most' the guns in 2042 are "real" or adaptations of real ones. Good work!

Marlin advertised their guns with pictures of the animals you can take down with them. The Marlin 1895 had next to pictures of a bear, an elk, a boar and a moos a picture of a T-rex. I think that was also the reason that Chris Pratt wielded one in Jurassic Park World. But we all know that Battlefield has a fetish for Dinosaur easter eggs, which I assume is the reason for that gun. If you google Marlin 1895 trex you can still find the advertisement.
@jonathanferguson12113 жыл бұрын
Ha, I didn't know they'd done that. Having checked the Wayback Machine though, the T. rex icon didn't appear until 2017, two years after Jurassic World came out.
@schnufi113 жыл бұрын
@@jonathanferguson1211 Oh, I might have gotten the cause and effect mixed up in my memory. But adding a T-rex in your gun advertisement because of a Jurassic Park movie starring said gun seems plausible.

Quick note in regards to his comment on scar recoil: The answer is no, a shorter barrel would cause more recoil. One reason for this is because more gas would be required to properly cycle the system, naturally this extra gas kicks harder.
@dark2023-1lovesoni3 жыл бұрын
In my experience with short barreled shotguns, a 12-14" barrel has less recoil than an 18-20" barrel.
@wolfgang_h3t3 жыл бұрын
@@dark2023-1lovesoni But we're not talking shotguns? Also, I'm somewhat skeptical of your claim, a short shotties recoil vs a long one is barely noticeable (in regards to manual loading shotties), if anything the recoil would be better on the long one simple due to mass, so I'm forced to think there was a key difference between the short and long shotguns you tested.
@dark2023-1lovesoni3 жыл бұрын
@@wolfgang_h3t It was my 870 before and after filling my form 1. I also assumed that the shorter barrel would have more intense recoil for the same exact reason you stated, weight. I was surprised to find that recoil was actually less intense and more manageable with a shorter barrel. I figure that the pressure generated by burning powder is lower due to the short length. But shotgun powder is particularly slow burning compared to rifle types. I also found that the difference in length had no noticeable effect on my shot spread, contrary to common belief. It still patterns the exact same.

@sunbather15763 жыл бұрын
I like how Gamespot was one of the first outlets that released a "review" on the 11th November and they were overtly positive and mentioned none of the issues. Here we are with a video that has all rights to not go into detail about the mess that BF2039 is. However, with other games they do show goofy stuff or broken stuff and let Jonathan comment on it. Here they just don't as if something or someone hindered them from doing so... Edit: Inb4: I mean, they don't have to show bugs. But what about the ridiculous categorization of calibers into "heavy ammunition", "light ammunition" and so on which is a huge backwards step from previous iterations of the series in which the actual caliber was stated. And what about the 4 attachments having the same stats or the same attachment having contradictory stats on different weapons?
@glockenspiel6043 жыл бұрын
Apparently the descriptions on many attachments are incorrect and will be fixed at some point. Don't know what you mean by the caliber stuff in previous bf games, previous bf games didn't have different ammo options for weapons.

so genuine question, what would be the use of a bolt-action rifle in the 2040's? especially since current gen precision rifles don't need to be bolt action.
@majorborngusfluunduch86943 жыл бұрын
Im going to leave a comment in case a Mosin fanboy comes by.
@frankpolly3 жыл бұрын
Same reason why bolt actions still live on today. For maximum precision you want as little movement in the rifle as possible. With a bolt action all movement once fired comes from the user with the weapon only lightly moving because of recoil. With a Semi-automatic rifle you have the bolt or even barrel moving the moment the round is fired, putting more movement into the weapon and possibly throwing the bullet just slightly out of trajectory. Keep in mind bolt action rifles are more meant for the longer distance marksmanship up to 1000M and above where as semi-auto snipers work perfectly at lesser ranges than that.

Recoil impulse / direction isn't purely influenced by "how your body interfaces with the weapon," nor is it always just "up and to the right." It depends on the weapon's design, bolt/charging handle location, and several other factors.
