10:43 Assuming this wasn't covered in a bit that got cut off for time, as I know sometimes happens, I believe the M231 Port Firing Weapon, which was an M16 PDW made for the Bradley IFVs, had a wire stock like that in their early model, but it got removed, supposedly to prevent soldiers from actually using them over their standard service rifle as it had over 1000 RPMs for a rate of fire. Which these, I believe, were designed in 1979 and entered service in 1980.

@maybetomorrownewmaker3 ай бұрын
they got those Hollywood AR mags kind of fits because Cold War really feels like a blockbuster action movie
@EdgyADude3 ай бұрын
There is an upgrade for the magazine which makes the 20 round magazine hold like 45 rounds I think thanks to a bit of tape added to it. I played the game today and noticed it when modding the weapon, it’s weird considering they have the larger magazine modeled for XM4 and could just add it to M16
@andreivaldez29293 ай бұрын
Same. Also: I think the reason for the 16.3" barrel "upgrade" is because of civilian AR pattern rifles being commonly seen with 16" barrels and the devs just took one with that particular handguard and added it to the game: manufacturers usually go slightly over 16" to make sure that it's distinctly over that minimum length for legal reasons.

It's kind of a crying shame that Call of Duty doesn't do real guns anymore. The gun models are amazingly well detailed. The reload and inspect weapon animations are really well done. The customisation is decently extensive and fun. It's fine by me if a gun goes off into silly town when you've fully customised it, but the base weapon should be a real gun.

There's plenty of iconic and obscure Cold War weapons, including a British bullpup Edit: also at 10:45 a similar style of wire stock on an AR variant did exist at the time on the M231 Firing Port Weapon, a heavily modified M16 intended as a weapon for dismounts while 'buttoned up' in the back of an M2 Bradley IFV, introduced in 1979.

I always love the vintage Vietnam era M16 in appearance of the AR/M16 family. It is a sleek, black, looked space age for its day. Despite its very difficult struggle to get adopted and then the reliability issues that it faced in the jungles, it would be fixed and become the sweet 16 as one firearms historian said in a documentary. Though in the war it was called Mattel 16, poodle shooter. The ppsh submachine gun is always a treat to have in a video game, but I always leave those legacy weapons untarnished.

I know Jonathan knows a lot about guns but technically the barrel on an AR15 pattern rifle definitely can increase the cyclic rate. If the gas system is shorter or the gas port itself is larger and thus increases the operating PSI of the system it will result in a faster rate of fire. I guess TECHNICALLY its not the barrel causing the rate of fire to increase but the barrel is obviously part of the gas system so it kinda is.
