Wolfenstien's art direction is very gothic & heavy metal inspired, which you can definitely see in a lot of this reboot's franchise, and I do really appreciate they went that direction when it came to depicting WWII weapons before the timeline divergence that these games take place in. If they went ahead and made the period-correct weapons actually look period correct in terms of details, it's fair to say they would've stuck out more and wouldn't've felt like they would've belonged, rather than the more stylized approach they chose.

What I've always liked to think about the MP61 is that the big cylindrical units on the left of the receiver are just a smal pump and an oil reservoir since the gun clearly fires a giant cartridge similar to .50AE at a ridiculous fire fate, it would make some sense for the thing to need cooling to help it work smoothly And the Hammergewehr (I seem to recall that's its name) was by far the coolest shotgun, dual wielding two of those and cleaning hallways with it was just the most satisfying thing ever And the Laser Rifle was plain weird for how it was implemented

the thing that makes Johnathan so good at this is that he's not just a gun expert, he also knows a lot about videogames. That's something that often falls flat with these "experts react" videos, they'r generally only experts on their field and not in what they're reacting to. It's not as fun to watch a train heist expert react to a movie with a train heist in it if they don't know a thing about film. Someone who does would be able to point out limitations the director would have had to deal with, the quality of the special effects, how impressive the cinematography is or how the cinematic language conveys the emotions one would feel in a real heist. I wish more "experts react" series would understand that and get someone who knows about both of the things they're reacting to

The game starts at 1946, because in wolfenstein uniwersum D-day failed and the war went on for longer, so thats why weapons looks already futuristic. Not to mention the germany was even more technologically advanced than it was in reality. Also, the "laser" gun was very similiar to this DMR gun before, but these were 2 diffrent guns. Jonathan, With regards to the MG46, the Gatling '42, it took me a bit questioning that to come to a why with the barrel shrouds - The shroud was also part of how you changed the barrels on the 42, and if you're going for that extra-high rate of fire, a gatling setup saves some of the barrel wear, but it's still going to happen with a gun like that. So having it in a position in the field where it's going to wind up with that problem, having the ability to quickly change its barrels makes that aspect of maintenance easier. Of course, BJ dismounts it and goes John Rambo with it, but as you said - in his case it's rather comic-book like.

@@JimIBobIJones That doesn't really make sense though. They had Stg44 and Gerat 06H/StG45 by 1945. You couldn't/wouldn't just create whole new weapons out of whole cloth in a year (New Order takes place in mid-1946). So the timeline has to have diverged before that.

Cruelty Squad would be interesting for this series. All the guns are real or based on real guns, albeit weird obscure ones mostly.

I've had few memorable visits there:- 1. one of the interpretors broke one of the prop swords during an iterpretation. 2. A falconry display where wone of the falcons WOULD NOT behave. 3. Some kid (work experience) in the Nelson Bistro wouldn't serve me before twelve (fair play as she was only training/on work experience) 4 On my first visit I couldn't believe how big the weapons were or some of them.

I did love that New Order’s STG44 has that chugging rate of fire like the real one that sounds great and felt nice to hear in the game.

There was going to be STG-45 but only a few prototypes were made. It was essentially a STG-44 designed to be cheaper to manufacture.

Funny thing about the New Order Thompson is that I think it's supposed to be a version of the Thompson that's chambered in .30 Carbine. There is an existing prototype that was submitted to the light rifle trials that was essentially a slightly beefier M1 Thompson and I can't say that it wouldn't be neat to see something like that being what was ran with as an ad-hoc Assault Rifle.

I kinda love the design of the auto shotgun in The New Order. It is just so big and over the top with the side clipped box magazine and the top cover you flip up like it is an M-60.

Please Jonathan, made a video on *METAL GEAR SOLID 3* weapons. (Please like the comment so gamespot can finally see it) So many weapons in MGS3 to react and comment on like the Patriot's infinite ammo magazine, the EZ tranq gun, Snake's customized officer M1911A1, Snake whittling the pistol grip to use a knife for CQC, Ocelot's SAA juggling skills, The End's paratrooper tranquilizer Mosin Nagant, the Davey Crockett recoil-less nuclear launcher and Eva's chinese mauser clone. There are so many more other interesting trivias and weapons in MGS3 so please gamespot and Jonathan make a video

In previous destiny episodes you guys showed Jonothan guns, but not the perks on them. I'd love to see him react to a weapon like lumina having a chambered compensator, or tresspasser having a mag called ricoscet rounds. There are deffinitely more wacky mag and barrel options on other exotics (tractor cannon has extended barrel) but i cant name them off the top of my head.

The game is very hyper-stylized like you said, and therefore the weapons are designed to look more "chunky" and "industrial" with the aesthetics. The designs of the guns fit perfectly within the Wolfenstein lore.
