Wolfenstien's art direction is very gothic & heavy metal inspired, which you can definitely see in a lot of this reboot's franchise, and I do really appreciate they went that direction when it came to depicting WWII weapons before the timeline divergence that these games take place in. If they went ahead and made the period-correct weapons actually look period correct in terms of details, it's fair to say they would've stuck out more and wouldn't've felt like they would've belonged, rather than the more stylized approach they chose.

the thing that makes Johnathan so good at this is that he's not just a gun expert, he also knows a lot about videogames. That's something that often falls flat with these "experts react" videos, they'r generally only experts on their field and not in what they're reacting to. It's not as fun to watch a train heist expert react to a movie with a train heist in it if they don't know a thing about film. Someone who does would be able to point out limitations the director would have had to deal with, the quality of the special effects, how impressive the cinematography is or how the cinematic language conveys the emotions one would feel in a real heist. I wish more "experts react" series would understand that and get someone who knows about both of the things they're reacting to

@@JimIBobIJones That doesn't really make sense though. They had Stg44 and Gerat 06H/StG45 by 1945. You couldn't/wouldn't just create whole new weapons out of whole cloth in a year (New Order takes place in mid-1946). So the timeline has to have diverged before that.
@JimIBobIJones2 жыл бұрын
@@JonathanFergusonRoyalArmouries I think that's the idea behind the rebooted series - that the timeline diverges after the Death's head finds the McGuffin of the series (ancient technology or whatever it is) and starts implementing it into German army. Jonathan, With regards to the MG46, the Gatling '42, it took me a bit questioning that to come to a why with the barrel shrouds - The shroud was also part of how you changed the barrels on the 42, and if you're going for that extra-high rate of fire, a gatling setup saves some of the barrel wear, but it's still going to happen with a gun like that. So having it in a position in the field where it's going to wind up with that problem, having the ability to quickly change its barrels makes that aspect of maintenance easier. Of course, BJ dismounts it and goes John Rambo with it, but as you said - in his case it's rather comic-book like.

Would be interesting to see Jonathan tackle the guns of Deep Rock Galactic.

the 42 is normally meant to be carried by "Maschinensoldat" units, which are a walking Tank unto themselves, Blazcowicz does it because he has final fantasy pattern super strength meaning any weapon is weightless to him

Gamespot : Please upload raw footage of Jonathan's reaction without cuts. I don't care if it is +1hour long, we could appreciate more thorough explanations and ramblings from Him, which I find immensely entertaining PLEASE

As much as the comment on floaty cartridge ejection seems nitpicky, weird gravity is something that messes with the visual aesthetic and feedback of weapons in games. Not only would the flipping spent casing be more accurate, it would look cool and lend to a sense of the power of what you're using. Side note, does that last gun have a reciprocating bipod? Because that would be.... odd. Maybe it's the recoil animation, but it looks like that bipod is sliding back and forth.
