Crazy even the sparks from the saw started a fire when he was cutting the gate! Tells u how dry it really is. Not that fire would go far but I wonder if he could've gotten away with using bolt cutters. But they did a great job at saving the structures. I can't believe this started from fireworks also...like why be messing with those in the summer time!! I think whoever was responsible should be fined for the cost of fighting the fire! Putting lives and property at risk from stupidity!

Yes, 4 days ago it was 104 degrees out, dried up all of East Contra Costa quickly. This past week has been crazy with a dozen fires.

I have a dumb question this is Antioch California why are the firefighters wearing structure gear and not brush gear

Probably got called out for a structure fire and didn't realize it was a wildfire till they got there.

Well, in the interview the chief said this was the second mixed vegetation/structure fire of the day so maybe they went straight from the earlier fire. Also as structures were involved they probably had to turn up in structure gear. Final point - if you have surplus gear you can always remove some of it, if you don't have it then you can't do anything.

@@nphil93992 the reason I asked ...I live in California and have never seen a department tackle a wildland fire with structure gear back in the day they did but structure great is heavy and cumbersome and in a wildland fire could cause heat exhaustion or worse that is why they started using the lighter brush gear to prevent that it's very unusual to see structure gear used on a wildland fire in Cailfornia

@@leeshaver7825 Well towards the end of the video it looks like at least some of them switch into lighter gear. Their is a guy called woods who is always near the house, at the start he has full structure gear on but at the end he has a brush gear top on
