How do you clean a child's painted bedroom set, after smoke damage due to house fire? Can you??

Depending on the degree of the fire you can clean it. If the fire was heavy and there are any unfinished or raw wood parts of the set then I would strongly consider just replacing it. But to clean it I would use a product called Wood Craft Restorer. I have a video on my channel here on how ot use that product.

Is there a way for me to clean my great grandmother's dishes that went through a house fire that destroyed the house. These were some of the very few things salvaged. They are covered in something black and is stuck on them. Are they redeemable or do they just need to be tossed?

Usually the best way to get the "burnt on" black off of chine is using an ultrasonic machine. Where are you located and I may have a company near you that I can recommend for this?

is it necessary to deodorize something that you're washing with soap? How would you clean big pieces of metal, ie auto shop equipment?

That is a great question and the answer is it depends. There are alot of factors to take into account when ridding an item of odor. Odor removal is rarely a one step process, It often takes 2 or more steps to remove odor.

It depends on the severity of the fire as to wether it is safe to clean them or if they will need to be replaced.
