FIRESIDE TAVERN (Amish Country) Strasburg Pennsylvania

We made it back to Amish Country and our first video is from this beautiful Fireside Tavern in Strasburg Pa. We have read great things about this place so we had to go check it out for ourselves. We were greeted with a friendly staff and excellent food. The large portions and the awesome soup were better than we imagined. So come with us and let us show you inside.

Hey there j&b y'all couldn't have selected a better place to eat that food looked mouth watering I tell you what I go to Amish country not too far from the house about an hour away in Guthrie Kentucky there's a whole little community up there that's nothing but Amish people they still ride around in the horse and buggy they don't believe in electricity some of them don't men work on the farm the women do bakery and make homemade quilts I highly respect these people every opportunity I get I'm always buy something from these people the next video guys God bless

They are hard workers. This area and Berlin Ohio are the biggest Amish areas in the USA. Love watching them work in the fields and seeing the buggies around town. Very interesting how they live. Thanks Jeff appreciate it.😎😎

The oysters you were served look to me like oyster pats. You take a handful of cracker meal, put on two or three small oysters and, with your other hand, add more cracker meal to the top and gently squeeze between your palms until it all sticks together. Usually , the pats are stored under refrigeration to let the oyster juice and breading stick well together. Before deep frying, you re-pat with more cracker meal just before dropping into the hot fat. I used to help a local RFD and a local church pat oysters for their fried oyster dinner fund raisers.

What we were told was these are 100 count oysters. Said there is a hundred of these in a gallon. Said these were the biggest oysters you can buy. Never seen them that big before but they were so good. Thanks for the info on the breading process didn't know any of that. Appreciate the info and you watching. 😎😎

Wow. You were about 40 minutes from us. We have eaten here many times. I had mentioned Schaffers Canal House to you before for seafood. You were 90 minutes away from it. Here in Canada we always have had a sad shortage of decent eateries (other than the cookie cutter chains) this is true even in our "tourist towns". Thanks for taking us along! I have stayed in the Holiday Inn that is next door and enjoyed Katie's after seeing the review you two did. Now I will have to try Fireside tavern. My favorite local eatery is Dienners and of course Shady Maple can't be beat. Really enjoy your vlogs, keep them coming!

My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary there on May 4th . We did not know about this place until we saw your video. The tomato soup was excellent as was the prime rib sandwich that my husband had and I had the pasta with grilled chicken and a salad which was also very good. I brought half of it home because the portions are large. We will dine there again. We are fortunate to live about an hour from the Lancaster area. We enjoy your videos.

Wow, now those are some good looking meals, I'd love to have lunch or dinner there, John's sandwich, that delicious complimentary soup (I love tomato bisque) and though I have a shellfish allergy I'd try one or two of those oysters. Tim we are home. We were there for 3 days and filmed 10 videos. Went to Sight and Sound but were sold out for the weekend. We filmed the building to add to the Hershey Farms buffet video. Is The Strasburg Inn still there and running? I know this was part of it. We loved it there, took our kids many times. Great memories. My parents loved going there too. Mostly for a long weekend. I went to college in the area in the late 1980s. It was the first place I ever had soup in a bread bowl, years and years ago. It’s so cool to see a place I’ve been many times! 😎

It's funny you asked about that place. That's where we stayed at for two days. That and the Red Caboose. We didn't film it because it was old and run down. Now for the price of 70 dollars it was a place to sleep. Paint was peeling from the walls, furniture was scratched all up, fireplace didn't work in room, cracks in door frame. Bed was nice and water was hot in shower. We should have filmed it and it was the plan to. We had filmed 3 videos already that day and after seeing it we decided not to. Look it up on tripadvisor and read the reviews before you stay. It's the cheapest hotel in the area so you can save money staying there and like I said the bed was nice. It's just very old and needs alot of work. 😎😎

oh, my YUMMY yum yum yum😳I love what you guys do. Just wondering since you folks seem to be in Penn. Amish country often, have you tried scrapple? I'm new to your channel so I have not seen them all. I am originally from Delaware and my husband from is for Penn. I had to learn to make scrapple because we now live in north central Nevada, no one knows what Scrapple is in this area. I grew up eating it and adore it. Thanks for your videos, I live pretty remotely and have never even been in most of the mainstream Restaurants, so I drool vicariously through your videos.😉😋😀

These two meals are higher quality than you or used to getting. Everything looked excellent, the oysters, the french fries, the onion rings, the prime rib sandwich, the tomato cheese soup, everything looked great, but John should have a little au jus for his sandwich, and you need some cocktail and tartar sauce and fresh lemon for your oysters.

if you ever get to new hope and lambertville, try the station in lambertville, great oysters. I did have oysters in gatlinburg. after isaacs and this one I am now starved. and I love poppyseed dressing.

@@jbinthehills i;f you get to easton, pa, 3rd and ferry fish market, you can order one or as many oysters as you want, and are given a choice of 4 to 6 varietiess. eastern shore, cape may salts, pei are all good.

@@jbinthehills it is about 1 hour north of philadelphia, lambertville and new hope comes first, then easton, pa, it is in the lehigh valley. Bobbie would love the 3rd and ferry, as I do.

If you have not seen oysters like that, it tells me you have not been to high quality seafood restaurants on the east coast, or in the Northeast expecially New Jersey, Long Island, NY shore points, New England. Where the Seafood is the best.

@@jbinthehills I knew it. I spent decades eating in fantastic seafood restaurants, all the way from Maine all the way down to Florida Keys. There are also some really great seafood buffets. You both need to go down the shore to a nice place for a few days during the week where rates are cheaper, and then eat in some of the nice restaurants.
