This was a Cliff Notes version of Firestarter. It was lacking in a lot of areas. There were some good kills.Some of the violence is not for the faint of heart especially if you are an animal lover Meeeowouch !! LOL I did enjoy watching Gloria Reuben in this never seen her so crazy and cruel before.

Effron would be a great Harvey Dent for Pattinson's Batman. he's got a winning smile with a lot of charisma which you need for Harvey but as his Bundy movie showed he can play darker roles really well which would be great for Two Face IMO.

Firestarter is one of my favorite Stephen King books. I've seen the original adaptation with Drew Berrymore and remember it being ok. It was no Shining but it was about as good as you could hope for a Stephen King film adaptation at the time. That really isn't saying much and as Martin said they cut a lot out but I found it ok as a one-and-done watch.

the original wasn't perfect, but has charm and an awesome final act. the 2022 film Ryan Keira Armstrong and Zac Efron did OK with what they were given, that aside this movie was a forgettable disappointment that wasted its potential,its R-rating,its cast and its Friday the 13th release date. wasted potential indeed.

They should’ve flipped it around. Where the McGhee’s are mostly shown as being dangerous and the Fed’s are seen as trying to protect people. Then, in the final act, show how the Fed’s have much darker designs and the McGhee’s, while still being a hazard, are only trying to survive. Even with the limited budget, a twist like that could’ve made this version more memorable.

After reading about MK Ultra and all the shit the CIA did in South America, the cartoon characters might actually be too nuanced. Because they got some truly needlessly cruel BS. Feed a Elephant LSD until it died, feed a human LSD until he died, feed mental patients LSD until they died or went from a 4 to a 15 in terms of mental instability, then "loose them in the paperwork". So I feel the Nuance is not making them have a point so much as showing a newbie get indoctrinated.

John Carpenter scored this movie, and i usually like his soundtracks but this one was not great. Especially when you compare it to the 1984 film scored by Tangerine Dream. The song 'Charly the Kid' is better than the movie itself but it's still better than this version. The original felt like it could have been an X-Men film. I think Korey would enjoy some of it, 2:49 spoilers.

I feel blessed to have never read the book or seen the original film (though I now plan on it) before seeing this movie because I thought it was good standing completely on its own. Should have been released under the Thriller genre and not Horror, though, as it really had only a few horrific elements but didn't play them up hard enough to be anything like Stephen King's work or other similar genre films. Simply rebranding probably could have done a lot of service to this film.

"Firestarter" was the first "adult" novel that I read when I was in middle school. That novel alone got me hooked on Stephen King as a writer. The 1984 piece of dreck didn't live up to the novel, and I knew this even at age 14. I don't have high hopes for the 2022 version. :/

The book came out in 1981. I was not born in the 80's but had an 80's copy of this book. I really liked the book, I read it as a teen. It seems like all the film versions are unintentionally funny. Fire Starter 2 was so bad but still a funny early 2000's movie.
