Think about your crossbow. The string never goes slack making full use of the entire power stock. So less slack (wider spread between the trees) will make a massive distance. Also the sling will not interfere with the projectile as it passes between the trees.

As usual, another great video. At first I thought you would be better off with a projectile that was as close to round as possible but then you ended up with the perfect shape. Am I the only one that thinks that is the same shape as a beer can. I can she you with the group of guys in the wood and someone yells. Throw me another beer. My only suggestion is to paint the ‘balls” a nice bright color so you can collect your ammo easier after each round. Maybe cut some big cookies and put them out as targets in case you get to blood at bowling. Thanks for sharing and now I’ve got a use for those bands the physical therapist gave me.

Watching Ryan figure out physics is pretty funny. Get rid of the looped bands, they’re eating all of your kinetic energy.
@survivingringworm22023 жыл бұрын
Really? Looped bands are no good? Why? I just finished a book by Neil deGrasse Tyson and am currently reading one by Stephen Hawking so lay the physics on me!
@user-dw4cv3xq5u3 жыл бұрын
@@survivingringworm2202 the loops between the tree and the bands are eating your energy. Not saying it’s wrong per se, just that it could be more efficient. As simply put as possible due to limited characters, the elastic energy is being lost upon release because of those smaller secondary loops. You want as direct as possible. Having the main band (the one containing the projectile) as a fixed point to the tree is the most efficient, anything else is allowing unnecessary energy loss. If the smaller loops hold more energy due to their resistance, you’re losing resistance in your main band.

Around 500 BC in Syria, a machine throwing arrows or stone balls steeply through rigid arms was invented, the ends of which were stuck in elastic horsehair ropes. The Phoenicians invented a similar weapon but firing flat-track missiles. Both of these constructions were developed by the ancient Greeks, who called them - , as well as Macedonians, where catapults throwing large metal arrowheads weighing up to 78 kilograms and two meters in length and catapults throwing stones weighing about 26 kilograms were especially popular. They were used to destroy the battlement and wall fragments, and to destroy the enemy’s siege machines. A machine throwing missles up a steep track was later called the by the Greeks, and after the Romans took it over, it received the name of a .
