Jewel's book is worth reading. And I agree, this was a great interview, Margaret asked excellent questions. It must be exhausting for artists to be asked the same questions, especially when she wrote a book that interviewers can read. So yeah great job 👏

I agree there's a difference between an entertainment interviewer and a journalist. Both of these women are extremely articulate! 💜

I sent Jewel an email LOOONNNG ago. When her first album hit stores. I absolutely adored her style, messages, voice, all of it. She replied and it was kind of her to notice or bother. I never had the chance to see her live, but I bought three of her albums on CD. Still just as good today. I think maybe "My Hands" is perhaps the most encapsulating of her vibe. My favorite one, too.

I don't think a lot of people fully get how strong, independent, discerning and intelligent Jewel is. Her metaphor about hard wood in this interview is 100% true. She turned down 1 million dollars from her record label when she started cuz she wanted to carve her own path... Insane! She's remarkable in so many ways and for the people who truly appreciate her, you can draw strength and inspiration from her. Her songs are so meaningful, genuine and moving very much like poetry.

An amazing person for her kindness, honesty and sincerity, and the list could go on, but she speaks for herself much better than I or anyone else can, so I will stop. Thanks for posting this interview. I have found that Jewel and I have many things in common, no surprise to me really and I guess that is why I love her so much.

My husband won tickets on the radio to Jewels Anchorage AK Homecoming Concert. It was a quaint smaller venue. Maybe a couple hundred people in an auditorium setting. She was AMAZING all around. Plugged in an autistic guitar took audience requests sang & played and walked around. We were introduced to her mother who is talented as well. She was a lot of fun. Super friendly toward all her fans. Jewel's concert is in the top 5 of many years of concert going. ❤

What a beautiful soul! Jewel is the absolute real deal! Her story is so inspiring and I wished many more artists would listen and learn the values that she ascribes to. Rather than pursue fame and fortune as a way to fill the holes and traumas of life, artists should create art that helps them to heal and stay strong…then they will find joy, peace and fulfillment in their artistry and ultimately everything else will follow.

I was taught by my father skills of how to keep the motors running along with every thing from suspension systems, pneumatic and hydraulic and mechanical systems. In Jr high school you had shop classes like Wood, metal, electric shop when I went to high school I had Auto Shop for 3 years and ceramic shop were I learned to throw on the potters wheel and made pottery even after high school I bought a wheel and would go back to 18:10 school to have them fired. My Father taught me how to box with Marcus of Rules , in high school I took gymnastics and did the Rings. When my children were young I took many different styles of fighting r

Therapy can help, UNLESS you have an abusive therapist the way I did with Sonaj K. Schoenwald, from NC, SC and now in CA. Happiness is not the same thing as hedonism, which seems to be what you are thinking of. Christianity is notably lacking in its thinking about happiness and how to achieve it. If you want to be happy, the best place I know to look is in Buddhist philosophy and practice.

I don't believe in the concept "forgiveness," as it's not part of my makeup and DNA. I believe "forgiveness is God's job, not mine." But ACCEPTANCE is what I strive for, and it gives me the means to MOVE ON, leaving the pain, rejection, hurt and anger behind. ACCEPTANCE is like the blue skies with clouds moving across the sky, in the gentle healing winds.

Jewel is an amazing human being. Couldn't help noticing though that this feminist interviewer while rightly highlighted the abuse by her father, she incredibly chose not to bring up the fact that her mother abandoned her and her siblings when she was only 8. When Jewel invited her mother back into her life after becoming famous, this evil woman stole her life's earnings > $ 100 million.
