I've got two generators on order from Costco. Reason is their great unlimited return policy. All others have a no return policy once oil and gas are added. I ordered the AiPower Yamaha 2400 on sale as the Firman 2000 went out of stock. Then the Firman 2000 came back in stock and I ordered it as well. The AiPower's standard jet is good up to 5000 feet and the Firman is speced for their high altitude jet above 2 or 3000 feet and I'm at 3400. I looked at larger generators but decided two smaller generators for the price of one Honda 2200 was a better way to to for me. I have an 8 year old Honda 2000 that I use for our travel trailer and it's been much abused and never failed me. It's been in the sand and dirt, fueled with regular untreated gas, run a lot for 8 hours at a time, haven't run the gas out of the carb and it just keeps on ticking. Now I'm treating my gas and will break in the new gens and run the gas out of the carbs. It's good policy to run your generators at least once a month as if you don't use it you might lose it. Hopefully both are good units but it they're damaged or defective I'll return one or both. Both the new ones will fit in my TT outside compartment and have the RV connection. For power outages I can lend one or two to neighbors. I find most folks in my neighborhood are relatively unprepared.

@@wikolib6821 awesome and good move running then empty to get the gas out before storage. Thanks for watching!

My advice (owning a 3000 watt Firman) is to buy a Champion. The Firman runs fine, but the covers for the outlets are made out of a plastic that REALLY doesn't like ozone (a real problem in my area). 10 year old Champion is still great, but the 1 year old Firman outlet covers have all broken off due to degradation, even stored covered in the garage. Unfortunately the Champion I have is a modified sine wave, but it is 3800 watts and Amazon had 2 day delivery when a hurricane was 3 days away (when I lived in Florida).

I totally agree with you! While I have the firman and it definitely does the job, I much prefer the champion plus I like that the champion comes in a dual fuel unit. Champion for the win for sure! Thanks for watching!

@@Outdoor_Prepper Yes, both of mine are dual fuel units. The Firman was also a Costco special. 🙂 The biggest problem with my Champion was replacing the starter battery. The positive and negative are on different sides of ANY replacement I could find, so I wound up installing the replacement backwards so I didn't have to replace the cables to make them reach.

@@john_in_phoenix my Firman was from Costco too! My only generator with an electric start right now is the predator 5000 but I am hearing no one can find a battery that actually fits. I hope by the time I need a battery that there is a solution

Thanks for watching! Here is the link for the hour meter I bought. I also needed to buy some double sided tape to stick it on although you can also screw it into the Plastic www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B08M5P21Q6?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

Would this size firman be good to recharge my smaller battery power stations (Bluetti AC180, Eco flow Delta Max) when solar is not strong ? I have a monster firman regular generator and I've heard I need to use the inverter type. There are so many on the market, I'm Soo confused ☹️
@Outdoor_Prepper2 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! The firman would recharge it but my personal opinion is that I like the champion 2500 watt better - which will also recharge it
