please i need help! i just bought this controller and it arrived a day ago, i plug it in my pc and it worked i downloaded the hori app and updated the firmware to v409 and from there it stopped working. No light on the pad and my pc now see the controller as a usb key. What should i do?

5/12/21 - Additional information. The Hori software now prompts for an update to 4.0.9. THIS UPDATE WILL NOT FIX THE D-PAD ISSUES and will undo the 3.0.7 update if you previously downloaded. I recommend storing the 3.0.7 update on your computer until Hori figures this out. You can always downgrade back to 3.0.7 if you any future update messes up the controller.

In the 4.0.9 patch you can fix the d-pad issues by using the Hori manager and turning on balanced input mode under the d-pad settings.

the other thing missing on the octa that the previous fighting commander has is a switch on the top of the controller to replace the top right buttons, the L1 and L2 button, to work as a normal L1 and L2 or as Left stick or right stick or L3 or R3. Good to know they fixed the dpad issue. But the dpad from the previous one is better compared to the octa. Bonus points for the analog stick though.

You saved me a lot of frustration with this video. Got this controller yesterday and was about to refund it because doing a wave-dash or even a crouch-dash in T7 on player 1 side was practically impossible. This update fixed the issue and now I'm extremely satisfied with the new controller. Edit: I tested this pad in T7 for a day or two and I came to a conclusion that the d-pad is inferior to previous fighting commander. Having problems when it comes to wave dash and GS with AK

I've been using the ps5 version now for almost a year. I have to say it is hands down the best controller I've ever used. Feels light and like it may be cheap, but it is very durable. I've had no issues with it working, and I've customized it to my liking. The buttons are so used you can't see X, triangle, square or circle anymore. Even so...the controller still works amazingly well.

Firmware is for the Xbox version ONLY. The PS5 version does not needed. Just writing this in case people read this in the future.

Well...all I say is this. The layout is awesome and face buttons is still impressive. The device manager is a great step with the right direction. Maybe they'll make a revision in the future like the HFC and the HFC4. Hopefully the PS5 Version is better. However, I'd bump this pad $5 to $10 dollars down from the price.

You say the diagonals are too sensitive? I just got one today and even with the max sensitivity I frequently miss QC inputs, when I swap back to a standard controller the QC inputs are very easy in comparison and never miss. Are you still having good luck with it? Xbox version firmware 4.1.0

I wonder if you might produce some content for folks that PC game on controllers but find the quirks and lack of consistency of the newest PS and Xbox controllers, like I love those controllers but their inconsistency is maddening, I for one would really value a look at the controller landscape with you usual attention to detail geared toward providing the best experience to replace the mainstream controllers.

Mine starting doing the same clicking sound on the dpad. Same spot too! Bottom left on the dpad. I just returned it. Sticking to my hori fighting commander. I wish hori made replacement parts. Like new dpad and the membrane silicone for the hit buttons. They do already for the Xbox one console controller.

Hi guys, i have the octa and i like it in general, just a thing though, is it possible to have the L3 or R3 button available to use WHILE COMPLETELY disabling the analog stick? You know, i want it like i want the L3 button BUT at the same time if i press the analog stick nothing happens. Im asking cuz i don t want unwanted button presses. Is this possible through the octa app? Or maybe through steam? If not possible, how did you remove exactly the analog stick? It is totally useless for me. Thanks and take care.

3:51 maybe xbox version does. PS5 version build solid. it does not creak and there is no backlash in it. It's lighter comparing to PS controller, but only because it doen't have motors in it. It took me 2 minutes too get used to this weight. Nice controller.

So Hori finally added the Firmware for this controller to their main Firmware download page, but when you click on it the page gives a 404 error lol. I was considering buying this controller but there's no way I'm purchasing it now with all of these issues.

hey man, dont know if you'll read this but i'll ask anyway. I got the fighting commander today, it worked fine with my pc. I downloaded the hori device manager to play around with the sensitivity of it. First it didnt get recognised by the hori device manager while working fine with my games. So i downloaded the firmware thinking it might fix it, but after installing the firmware with their steps, the controller stopped working altogether. its not picked up by steam neither by the hori device manager. tho i do see it in my pc device manager when i plug it in. any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Stick with the 8bitDo Sega genesis 6 button controllers for PC and use an adapter for consoles. Hori needs to get it together. They need to lower the price for this controller.

Most likely that is only needed for the first 1-2 seconds after you plug it in.

Sumthing in my d pad broke after playing around 24 h of dbfz now if i shake my controller sumthing ratles so that means sumthing in the d pad broke off . Liked the accurate feek of the dpad. But hated the stiffnes from the start . Now back to the old fighting commander . I wish the octa just had the nice buttons but with the old dpad

Just got mine and the plastic does feel VERY cheap compared to the Xbox controllers. But it's also cheaper in our shops than the Xbox controllers, got mine for 40 bucks, the new Xbox controllers go for 100.

@@shyguyirl254 I couldn’t solve that problem. That’s why I refund the product. I think that problem because of our wrong. In windows store you can download the xbox sofware and software upload the xbox firmware to ps edition. And the worst part is firmware can not be rollback. :(

Annoying thing about the software for me right now is it won't let me increase the sensitivity of diagonal inputs. Every time I try to set the sensitivity to max, when I close the app and reopen it they decrease it down a notch. Really annoying because I'm having a hard time getting diagonal inputs to come out with this controller

Just set it to balanced input bud, it's the same thing as all of them max sens.

@@smickeyYT You're right. What I'm doing now is just minimizing, but not closing fully, the Hori app after I adjust the diags to full sens. Seems to work that way. I think they're working on some fixes so we shall see.

You have to configure them with the software. By default they are L3 + R3 and not L1 + L2.

I'd beg to differ. The customisabilty is solid, the switchs for the buttons are great and the D-Pad although it has a rubber membrane/pivot with its clunkyness could be worked on future releases. It has its faults but it's good step in the right direction.

The firmware update fixed the software issue, but it can't fix the fact that the D-pad is still horribly designed. Why they insisted on using a round floating D-pad like on the X360 (quite possibly the worst controller ever for 2D fighting games) is beyond me. Is it so hard to look at the D-pad on a Playstation or 8bitdo controller and just f*%&ing copy it?

Y'know I thought I was losing my mind. Recently switched back to my PS4 Hori FC4 for SF6 (my powerA Fusion's dpad literally snapped off), and I noticed I was getting clipped even though I was CLEARLY crouch blocking. On multiple occasions as well. I don't think I'll buy another hori pad if this is the case. Plus Ive noticed the octa is missing switiches to make the triggers function like normal L1/L2s
