Alireza seems to have a surplus of Arsenal he’s playing to win in this tournament he’s been playing great lately
@compromisedssh

Me too. Alireza is either playing chess so well that it looks like he could beat stockfish or he's floundering. It's very rare to see him play decently well with maybe a misstep or two-- the man is all of nothing. Unfortunately, nothing has been showing up at the board a lot more than all lately, but there's always a chance you'll see a classic when it's his turn to play.

It looks like he's using this tournament to limit test some of his openings. Or maby it's just how he plays... Simply another masterpiece and what a joy to watch. Go Firouja, he's my dark horse to win the candidates.
@compromisedssh
@compromisedssh 3 ай бұрын
@@diederikbrouwer5425 that's how I used to feel. The trouble is, he could only be a dark horse for so long before he stopped being a dark horse. Dark horses have prove they can occasionally win at the highest level. Firouja seems like he's always on the cusp but can't ever quite pull it off. I'm not a hater of his. I'm a fan. It feels like he has lost a step recently, but no one is happier than I am when he performs brilliantly.

defo enjoyed this 1, alirezi is among my fave youngster, along with nodirbek and pragg. Alireza wasn't as committed to chess last year exploring other endeavors, but he said he is fully committing to chess this year, so hopefully we see some amazing performances because as Magnus said, Alireza has the highest potential in his opinion. great vid again, thankyou

This 1.Nc3 means that Alireza was prepared to play a Vienna if Nepo would have answered 1.....e5 (he did not). So Alireza has the Vienna prepared to use it in a classic OTB match, even against Nepo who is himself a specialist in those king pawn schemes.

Ali Reza's problem is that after reaching an extraordinary level of 2800, his play has gone backwards. He struggles a lot with blacks. And now younger players have caught up with him. I don't think he is any stronger than Gukesh, Pragg, Nodirbek or Vincent, even though he is a bit older and more experienced and has already played a candidates tournament. I would prefer Wesley So to play in the candidates tournament. He would be more stable and harder to beat. Yes, Ali Reza's matches are always exciting, but also shaky for him too. At this level, if you want to climb to the top, you shouldn’t be losing too often and play more consistent. Ding once had a 100-game unbeaten streak. Magnus broke that record and took it even further. Pragg currently has a 45-game unbeaten streak. Kasparov lost the world championship match against Kramnik, not because Kramnik was stronger but because he couldn't win a single game out of 15.

My man, you make very enjoyable videos but I'd like to offer up some constructive criticism, if I may. You could really do with toning down the Sports Announcer-style delivery. It conveys your enthusiasm but it becomes grating very quickly. The chess games you cover are exciting enough to hold people's attention. A softer delivery would improve the viewing experience for us and be more easy-going over time for yourself. Best wishes.
