Hope you put down a deposit at a Honda Powerhouse Dealer, or you more than likely won't be getting it. There's a search on Honda's site just for Powerhouse Dealers. My local dealer happily took my deposit and gave no impression they might not get one. When I found out only 47 are being sold in the USA, someone helped me find a dealer that actually has one. Well just before lock down I road a bunch of bikes including this Blade, compared to the BMW there’s no low end grunt, the foot pegs are so high it probably isn’t far off a MotoGP bike, and it’s like a 600. A proper weapon for the track with instant changes to the electronics no closing throttles or even stopping you can just do it, but for the road there’s a lot of compromises. Much prefer the BMW myself at 183cm it was a better fit for me, but well done Honda for putting the Blade back up there fighting for position #1 (should add I live in the U.K.)

Agreed. If I’m going I4 it would be the S1000 or possibly R1M. Packing all the power up top is great for the elite, but for most track day and street rider knobs there has to be some low end grunt for the lazy and imprecise.

I feel like back in the day you had to make high 5 figures to afford a Ducati or Aprilia and those of us who were middle class could only usually afford a Japanese bike, but with these newer models it's so much more of a level ground. Picking up a Ducati V4 nowadays will set you back all of maybe $21,000 and a comparable Japanese bike will set you back anywhere from $18,000 and up and the maintenance is about the same. Kawi, Honda, Yamaha, and Suzuki are gonna have to step their game up big time if they wanna hold onto their customers in the future, that's part of the reason why the most recent CBR1000RR flopped, they were asking $18,000 OTD for a bike that wasn't even in the runnings of the likes of a Ducati, Yamaha, Aprilia, or others and they slashed pricing down to $10,000 in some cases and still weren't selling them.

Totally agree. I did a Vlog on that very topic but haven't posted. The Japanese are dipping their toes into the superbike danger zone, which is why Honda has been dragging their feet on a top tier exotic. This was inevitable. BMW really came to the party and peed in the punch bowl in 2010. Then the V4 Panigale did a full squat and upped the game offering a motoGP bike with turn signals. The Japanese bikes still have the reliability angle, but it's diminishing now that Bosch electronics, Brembo, and Ohlins are becoming ubiquitous.

Fancy Animal - theres still a world of difference between a MotoGp Bike and a Road Bike.The Ducati Desmosedici is much closer to one than say a V4 Panigale .The same applies to Honda - the RC213V-S is about the closest you will get as opposed to a Fireblade.Yamaha and Suzuki have no equivalent (yet) but there had been rumours of a KTM RC16,i doubt if one will appear though.

This is why they Honda chicken to bring the SC82 base model in. It will retail for about $24,000. This RR-R SP SC82 is going to be close to $30K. Understand that the Ducati V4 base model at $20,000 is an all around better bike than even this new RR-R SP (and I am a die hard Honda fan with an SP2 in the shed)

That exhaust is such an eyesore. I wish it were shorter or had a more interesting design, like imagine a twisted exhaust, that’d look cool and unique. Of course an under tail exhaust would have been 👌 the best. But NO DOUBT HONDA COULD HAVE HID THAT UGLY EXHAUST BY PAINTING IT either all black or red or BOTH. Yeah I know most people are going to change it. But wouldn’t be nice if you didn’t feel like you really had to. ONE LAST THING !!!A KEY FOR THA GAS TANK WHEN ITS A PUSH/START. Just let me open it with a button that only activates when I’m near the bike. Oh look at me I need two keys to use my motorcycle, great!

The keyless ignition is a solution trying desperately to find a problem. Honda spew some nonsense about inlet obstruction but they have been chomping at the bit to put this keyless nonsense on more bikes on their range. Think of the new gamut of false negative electrical issues a keyless system brings. Not to mention the complexity of trying to get rid of the ignition lock system when converting to track only use. Will probably require the HRC ECU and harness again.

Official dealer documentation and VIN registration is claiming 188hp for the US version. It's been confirmed the electronic throttle is limited to reduce noise to pass US noise regulations. I guess Honda prefers a simple electronic fix over a more costly electronic one. On the bright side, it's almost guaranteed you'll be able to flash the Euro maps and get that 30hp back. Just waiting on Woolich...

Yes that's Hondas conundrum - trying to marry together their design and marketing departments ideas but keeping the end product at a reasonable cost.Im guessing a V4 based machine at the present time would just be too expensive for the sales they are after,the FireBlade has been their bread and butter Supersports Bike for nearly 30 years now so it has to be within reach of the mass market.

That's insane. It's a nice machine but seeing as how we are in the age of 200+hp bikes all Honda really did was catch up. I am patient, and will wait for prices to come down and for technology to trickle down.

My invoice for one in the US was $30k. I'll have to pay sales tax when I register. There are other bikes that can compete with this for less money, but I'm a fan of Honda and only 47 of these are being sold in the USA. Wait a year or two for the base model to be sold in the USA. I'm guessing it will close low 20ks instead of 30k. The only thing you'll lose is the electronically controlled Ohlins (many prefer manual), the front Brembo caliper, and maybe the HRC paint scheme.
