The cage is too small and you need to have more than dowel perches, like natural wood. Budgies need a flight cage so they have more space. It's also easier if you put paper towels at the bottom of the cage. The dowel perches can give them arthritis and foot problems. You also need more toys to keep them happy. You also shouldn't use plastic dishes because they can build up diseases and mold faster.

something I would suggest for your bird is definitely getting natural perches instead of dowel to prevent arthritis, bumbel foot, and irritation. Something also good for foots is platform perches to give your birds feet a rest. Another really important thing that people don't really think matters but putting the food and water higher makes them feel so much more comfortable. I know a lot of the time people aren't able to get a bigger cage but as long as you are taking him out for some hours a day like 4 that's just so much better and having plenty of toys. Your boy seems like he's in good hands!🙂

I had this exact cage for my little budgie when I first got him. Initially, it’s very good for settling them in but, overall, it’s way to small for them to settle in to completely. I’m not forcing anything and I hope I don’t overstep my boundaries with this because it is a nice cage! But having a newer, bigger setup will ensure they have enough room to fly. Budgies are naturally wanting to fly horizontally rather than vertically and I learned this after a while, that the cage is just too tiny and a bit suffocating. It’s a terrible instant because most pet shops provide these in bulk without even knowing that the sizes are completely wrong and they give tons of misinformation on these sweet things. Terrible, really. They do give the budgies out as babies first so it’s understandable that the cages are small, but please note that even though they don’t grow that big that fast, that the cage size makes a huge difference in their activity! Again, hope I’m not being pushy, just wanted to share a bit of info from bird owner to bird owner. Very cute budgie you have there! Nice video!

I had a budgie too he died tho when i was like 9 years old his name was boncuk spelled (bonjack)
@dashatetlow29072 жыл бұрын
The budgie is a girl because it has a pink Beak and I think your taming her good but the cage is way to small and dowel perches can give them arthritis so give them natural branches xx
@annieoldenburg44615 жыл бұрын
Not trying to hate but they need more toys in that cage, the process they went through wasn’t the best even though I can see they really have a passion for it I urge everyone including this family to do their research on owning budgies.
@jupiterflock96485 жыл бұрын
Yes, definitely more research. Even though she said her husband had budgies, he shouldn't be patting the bird near it's rear end. Doing so can make the bird sexually frustrated and more prone to biting.

@paolo73595 жыл бұрын
Ye that’s like the worst thing u could do with a new bird if u just leave them in a cage they get used to being alone and won’t want anything to do with you if u take them out even if they don’t let u touch them is way better cuz they get more used to the house and u in general
@sunnyskye55524 жыл бұрын
Actually... You ARE supposed to leave your bird for about a week for them to warm up to you and your house... So don't spread false information.

@pug68715 жыл бұрын
@@supriseitsmeg8466not, its not, as long as you give it enough attention and let it out of the cage often it will be fine. But it is better to have 2 obviously. And unless they don't have toys, don't get let out and don't get attention then they shouldn't get depressed. They commonly get depressed if their friend dies. Edit: also 8-12 hours a day is an exaggeration, at least 2-3 is fine as long as they have plenty of toys, id recommend 6 hours though.

No Nono you didn’t do any research..don’t use those dowel perches, get natural wood please. Also your bird needs pellet food not seeds, seeds are very bad for birds to have as their main food..

Guys I bought a pair of budgies yesterday but I'm kinda worried because they don't eat by themselves so I have to feed food to them . What do you guys think should I feed it or should I wait for 1-2 days so they could eat food by themselves ? Please guide me because this is the first time I bought a bird .

I would get a bigger cage like a flight cage, lots more toys, remove the dowel perch, get a variety of different perches, add more things to its diet like fruits and vegetables, I also recommended getting a cuttlebone or a mineral cake for the bird to hang in its cage.
@BONDBEAUTYSJUNGLE4 жыл бұрын

The cage is too tall and you’re feedit it too much pellets. The roof should be flat and be wide and you should also feed it green and yellow fruit

I hope you still have your bird and your life has been wonderful since that first day. I will tell others that is you are getting a bird, it is best to buy all the things it needs and set up the cage first. It also helps other pets in your home to get use to the cage, before you bring your bird home. Just a little advice.

I know this is an old video, and everyone is mentioning about the perches and cages, but I can’t believe No one is mentioning how he is petting the back at 11:10. Petting the wings and back can cause behavioral problems and make the bird sexually frustrated.
