It'd astonishing something like this was never created ever again. Yet at the same time, the concept being thought of so early in 3D gaming makes more sense because if a game like this existed in Unreal Engine, the realism could detract from the original goal of the game. The way it looks makes it feel like a dream as well. The simplistic graphics help convey the idea that our dreams are never clear. It would be nice to see this game localized so that everyone can understand its appeal.

To people arguing that this game is exclusively a visual representation of an "LSD trip", it's really not. The game is based on a dream journal. In fact, something I forgot about until I saw it again while watching this playthrough, there are certain instances where you'll click "start" and the screen turns black with a paragraph written in Japanese on it. This is a journal entry stating (basically) that the person didn't have any dreams the night prior. Thus, the level is skipped and you are brought back to the Start Menu. This is pretty much the 'nail in the coffin' as far as it being a game **about** LSD intoxication. It's not. Aside from this, you'll probably notice a dozen or more indicators that you are playing through someone's dream environment.

This game was made at the perfect time too. The bad graphics (for the time) enhances the feeling of being in a dream. Also, everyone used to know this game was about dreams. Now all of a sudden everyone thinks the title is automatically saying it's about acid. It's not. You can read the story on why this guy made this game. He kept a dream journal and made a game on it. Literally in the title sequence, you see the word "Dream" for the D in LSD. It has nothing to do with acid.

Here's LSD Dream Emulator Explained: A Girl is keeping a dream Journal of events that occur in her Dreams as she finds what occurs in her dreams is kind of Abnormal. She goes through the dreams finding as she takes the notes, that the dream becomes darker and darker as she goes along. The basic Objective of the game is to explore wherever you want and get basically...Achievements for where you go and what you discover of note to reveal what's really going on. The achievement Room is the room with the train and the hovering blocks and the miscellaneous colors. You'll notice that when you get teleported to said achievement room, that you'll be in a specific place. touch the object in front of you that just appeared, and it will take you to the place you earned the achievement. The goal is to get all the achievements before the 365 days run out. The Grey Man, the most famous person in the game, is a reminder of someone in the girls past that she doesn't want to remember, which is why he disappears upon you coming too close. good enough?

There's another explanation which is about aliens, and how they've abducted you and are putting you to sleep every day so they can observe your dreams. The Grey Man is thought to be an alien transferring himself into your dreams. Crazy, I know, but once you read into it it'll make more sense.

This game somehow manages to disturb me deeply without common horror elements. I think a ton of it has to do with the music. Sometimes it's just this jumbled mess that gives of an extremely eerie uncomfortable vibe, but when the better songs kick in like at 8:12 , it's like....... I don't even know.... this game is more an accurate visual representation of how volatile and inconsistent your thoughts are on LSD. you will never get visual effects this intense unless you just took the worlds largest drop. but yeah this definitely is what your head will feel like, and how your thoughts will sort of spiral unwillingly into the deepest corners of your conscience. it can be both beautiful and horrifying, so tread lightly.

I think the game is intended to represent a dream state more than the drug. At least they're consistent in saying "LSD" stands for Little Sweet Dream... And you do appear to be waking up at the end of each play cycle. And the new levels begin after you've fallen asleep. But I do agree about the volatility of your thoughts whilst under the influence of a psychedelic. But I think this statement may also apply to dreams. Makes me think that if dreams didn't just *happen* they would be illegal.

We used PS1's to play Techno CD's back in the day.. Pressing select on certain models would open dynamic psychedelic visuals to the music.. Spent a few nights at house parties tripping on mdma screwing around. We all did. Good times

With Sony releasing PS1 games on PS Plus Premium, it would be fantastic if they could make this "game" available on the PS5. The PS1 era was a time when developers used the console to experiment with gaming as an art form, and it would be a great opportunity to revisit some of those lesser known titles.
