I understand. I personally think there is lots of innovation that can be done when it comes to tool paths and matching cutting conditions. Form a manufacture’s (user) point of view I would like to see more innovation all around but from a CAM companies point of view I am glad so many are choosing to just buy tool paths. I am exited to see what Delcam brings to market.

When it comes to updated stock model the answer is simple. A 2D system that keeps track of solid model stock and adjust tool paths accordingly is a 3D system. So the question is how good is 3D iMachining, not just cavities. It is still early in 3D iMachining full capability development so I cant say for sure (I wont promise something we don’t have on the market) but we know the task at hand and are working hard. At SolidCAM we believe the theories and concepts inherit iMachining are our future.

Do you really think there are CAM companies innovating with tool paths that adapt from live feedback from a controller? Think about what SurfCAM did with TrueMill and how many did nothing for 7 years and now are buying a tool path from VoluMill to compete in the market space. All CAM companies sell software that produces Gcode, that Gcode is derived from tool paths. If these companies are unwilling to invest in their own (advanced) tool paths I doubt much tool path innovation is in their future.
