Good vid, thank you. Don't push too hard or far when just recovered from illness. Hurts more than it helps. Go easy, ride slower, shorter, and rebuild cycling fitness again. Anxiousness gets many into even more trouble, so there is no rush. The last thing I do as a cyclist is to spend my precious time chasing someone else's ass..... I love fast, but I love riding with like-minded friends even more. I wanna ride and spend time with friends who have similar riding goals and styles - and who are "safe riders" - to get stronger with and in time simply because I enjoy more time on my bike. The harder we try to push to keep up, when the body cannot be forced further, the worse it gets and the more dangerous. Control is everything in cycling. WIsh all cycling friends here safe, happy and enjoyable rides. Cheers

Well said!!! Most Importantly do things that bring happiness, not stress (and danger). Cycling is just a hobby. However easier said and done! It’s almost “natural” to get obsessed with the competition and comparing and all and honestly I think that’s the phase every cyclist has to go through, or to get more “mature”. I had my fair share too in earlier days. And now, like what you said, I just stay with my friends whom I can trust and I am comfortable with. And now that I am filming my rides Iagi cannot go all out to chase for speed or whatever but I’m having fun so who cares?!

@@terrarides Exactly.... when cycling is no longer focussed on ego, and more on the safe enjoyment of riding a bicycling at whatever the pace - from 20-55kph - , and we derive its health benefits with like-minded friends, and get back home tired, but safe and happy in one piece, that for me is the essence of riding. All the ass-chasing just to "keep up" is mostly a show of ego strutting and pandering to our insecurities = unhappiness. Once I realised this, I stopped chasing, and started really riding. And the enjoyment levels just changed to whole different levels and so did my cycling fitness. I generally don't ride with people who are able to sustain 5 to 8 kph faster than my preferred sustainable rolling pace over long periods and distances. It just means, they are at another level, and I accept that and am comfortable with that. To get better, I will ride with friends / groups who are a few kph faster than I am at the front of the group, but nothing more than 5 kph differential, ideally 3 kph. When we know what we truly want from riding a bicycle, and follow it, peace and enjoyment return in the spades, and so do health and fitness. Enjoy your rides! Cheers

It wasn’t easy for me as well to gain back my stamina as before and even until now which is nearly 9 months after my covid, sometime it just hard to catch my breath whenever I’m doing my strenuous exercises. Well…it is what it is, recovering taken more time than expected. Take care.

I started cycling in 2016, a year after I had an accident at Genting Sempah and broke my collar bone. Had to stop cycling for 3 months, during which a friend sold her non-smart bike trainer to me. I cycled on the trainer until I could get back on the road. It somewhat helped me maintain my stamina a bit. That trainer was then kept in the store collecting dust until MCO happened where none of us could go cycling... I remembered my trainer. So when everyone else hibernated, I was one of the few who could continue cycling! When MCO was relaxed, I realised I lost 5kg and was one of the strongest amongst my cycling buddies :D Now I train twice a week before weekend rides. My advise to everyone who wants to improve: Get a trainer (smart or non-smart trainer), its the best investment I have ever made in my cycling journey!

Sounds great, happy that you are still persistent in cycling despite the unfortunate incidents! I only cycle during weekends and I know I’ll have to get a trainer if I wanna improve but HAHA no I ain’t. I know myself.. it’ll just be an expensive cloth hanger in my apartment. 😆

I did a super leisure 30km after one week of recovery, so naive me thought I could do 80km after 2 weeks 🥲

Randy, thanks for the tips! Mind elaborate a bit more on the rationale behind this short spurt work out and how it will help to recover?

No point rushing back for your fitness, you may have just recovered from C+, the body still feels weak, it will take about a month to fully recover, take it easy! Been through it.
@terrarides
@terrarides Жыл бұрын
over the years i had (and am forced to) learnt to be patient with my fitness (with all my nonsense surgeries accidents and injuries). just that C+ caught me completely off guard that it is way worse than what i thought. in hindsight probably not too wise of me to go for a fairly long ride after 2 weeks 😂 but i was with a bunch of supportive and reliable friends so i wasnt that worried. Hope you had fully recovered!

2 months!! Well I definitely was overconfident in myself to ride a fairly long ride after just 2 weeks of recovery. I did another slow 30km ride today. Hope my body can pick up eventually!

It'll just take time for the lung to recover. My wife used a nasal wash for a month to get her nose cleared and stop any post nasal drip that covid started.

if you have a trainer/smart trainer at home, it would be better riding on it easy say 1 hour each day for 2 weeks. then after that gradually increase volume by riding outside
