Any man that not only competes in the TT, but wins the dam thing, instantly has my respect and appreciation of their skills on a motorcycle.

I watched the Motorcycle Man movie yesterday and then had to look up more on Dave Roper. Nice interview was done here. The Motorcycle Man is inspiring to an OG like me to keep on doing vintage motorcycle stuff. Thanks Mr. Roper!!!

I used to see Dave in the pits at Summit Point back in the nineties when I was racing. He was a quiet guy, always messing with his bikes, as I remember. They were vintage machines and required a lot of fiddling, I guess. He had a kind of light about him, I always thought then...like he was doing exactly what he was put here to do.

True gentleman, met him @ 2nd Barber Festival, get in way ? normally up front. Some yrs ago his 350 failed to fire, jumped on the 250 & still won ahead of a TZ 350 thro' some seriously skilled riding, frustrating the competition taking back markers leaving the TZ stuck behind for a few seconds...... Experience @ work.

hmm nice to know Dave did win this amazing race . You have to see it (2022 it will happen again!). By the way i was there as a spectator on 1984 an Yamaha XT 600 Tenere ( 7 .3 gallon fuel tank!) and now I know who one of the winner was .
