one tip that i learned in regards to paying bills/budgeting/etc., first start with creating a spreadsheet of showing what must be paid (bills - car note, rent, phone) vs what is (expenses - tv streaming services, apple music, amazon prime). then open multiple accounts and have each account dedicated to that one specific expense. so for me, i have two checking accounts, one for personal spending and one for my reoccurring subscriptions that can be canceled anytime. then i have all savings accounts for my car note, my cell phone bill, insurance, paying my credit card, and the rest of the works. The reason behind this is to split up your responsibilities, that way you can’t accidentally spend the ____ money thinking you had the funds for it but in all actuality certain transactions did not post yet and your actual balance of money available is less than currently posted. one thing i will say is to call you bank and have a cs representative open it for you and explain why, otherwise it may trigger a fraud alert on your account and you’ll be temporarily locked out.

1. I'm the same way and prefer to be alone as my "home base"! 2. UGH deciding what to eat every day is the WORST. I think you'd love hello fresh or green chef, its a super fun at home date night. I recommend one of you cooks while the other cleans up :) 3. Your mom sounds amazing and I would love to hear that story one day

I've had my own place for about 5 years but here I am watching your entire video before work 😅 I love everything about moving into a new place tbh. It's such a big responsibility when you get the first and you learn so much along the way but also, it's fun. Cooking is deff where I lack!!! Haha.

I totally agree witht he decorating thing and thati is not necessary to buy everything at once. I find it even difficult to find excatly what I need/want right away. I have been living in my flat for 2 years in December and I still do not have it fully decorated. Hahaha

I actually just made a similar video but more focused on apartment hunting and I feel like making these types of videos are so fun to reflect on, especially about how far we've all come. For sure! It's still cheaper than DC though, you can find a 1 bedroom in the portland metro area for under $1600, that is not a thing here haha not for a 1 bedroom. MAYBE a studio haha.

I had to laugh at the economist not keeping a strict budget 🤣 I also have my own apartment in the DC area and had the same priorities in finding a place and totally relate to everything you said about the struggles but also benefits of living alone. I’m also originally from the PNW and work for the federal government in DC so basically we’re the same person haha
