The White Devil. That is the name Zeon Soldiers would give to Gundams. Imagine having the technical superiority for nearly a year and being able to bully your way thru any battle, then suddenly an overpowered version of your tech shows up and starts deleting your forces. This show is decent as a Gundam show, really shows how Gundam and Zaku were just different.

at around 4:22 you both were discussing about beam weapons. Beam weapons were in use before the war, the problem was only large to medium size warships could use them at first. Both sides had access to these cannons. Zeon had attempted to make their own beam weapons for mobile suits but could never get it right and was put on the backburner for other projects. That was until the Gundam showed up and showed that it was possible to have a mobile suit use a beam weapon so easily. There were only a handful of mobile suits on the Zeon side that could use a close quarters beam weapon. Some examples are the Gelgoog, a mobile suit that could perform at the same level as the Gundam with its double ended beam saber called the beam naginata, and the Gyan, a mobile suit that fought like a Fencer with a rapier. A lot of amphibious Zeon mobile suits used beam weapons, but used sea water to cool themselves down after using them. So in the end the Gelgoog was the first mass production mobile suit for space that Zeon made that could use a beam rifle and a beam sword/naginata.

at time 1:42, that is the actual name of that unit, the Zaku tank. Taking the upper body of a Zaku and then putting it on top of the bottom half of the Magella Attack, then putting a cannon on its shoulder. The Magella attack can split into two parts, the turret, which can't rotate for some reason, can fly for a short distance, while the treads can operate on their own. It was a classic tactic for Zeon forces to take the Magella top and have the Zakus use it as a "handheld" heavy support weapon.

Even in the first Mobile Suit Gundam series(hereby MSG), Zeon pilots were surprised when they first saw the MC Amuro's Gundam fire a beam weapon that destroys a Zaku in one shot. So it was good to see the Red Wolf squadron pilots also show the same reaction when they first saw Gundam EX's beam weapons. BTW, if assuming Requiem for Vengenace is canon, the notorious reputation of Gundam among Zeon soldiers must somehow not have reached the Eastern European front yet, since MSG ep 1 takes place in September of U.C. 0079(the canonical first time Zeon soldiers encountered a Gundam) and this show starts in November of the same year. And the Red Wolf squadron members were also surprised to see a Federation mobile suit for the first time, while the Gundam EX in this show is definitely NOT the main Gundam seen in MSG show.

5:00 The federation are the ones to miniaturized the Beam tech to make Beam rifle and beam sabers. all Zeon MS from the early one Year war only use heat melee weapons. only on the Late one year war that the Zeon MS can use beam weapons

@@kennethmana3103 Yeah you're right. For some reason in my mind Char had an Anti-ship Sword at the Battle of Loum lol. Before you lose your mind, I know the Anti-ship Sword isn't a thing in the UC timeline.

The Zaku was made to fight battleships, tanks and fighter planes in battlefields where radar cannot be used, while the Gundam was made to fight the Zaku mobile suit. Even though they have the same shape, they are completely different weapons.

events of this took place 2 months before end of the war so its november. by then it wasnt long after the siege at jaburo base failed when white base was able to send the gundam data to engineers to give to the gm units on standby. with that after the quickly send that data to other bases that got gm units be prototypes or mass produced to fight back against zeon zakus. same time they had various gundam prototypes built on framework of rx-78-2 (amuros gundam) whic hone you see here the Ex gundam. Ex gundam was later used to further research and develop the Ez8 Gundam seen in 8th MS Team series which that show takes place after this one timeline wise. Also the artist of Ez8 was brought back to draw the Ex which further cements the development tree of that Gundam.

2:20 Nah. The Gundam (and guntank and guncannon) came first. It was a prototype for what would later be the remarkably unremarkable GMs, among many other mobile suits, including more gundams to come. Although in the retelling, ORIGIN, I think the order of which these mobile suits came out is changed. The Gundam is still a prototype, but I couldn't tell ya for what exactly. I wasn't interested in looking into ORIGIN at all.

in the Origin the Guntank was first made by the Federation. the Zeon Remodeled the Mobile worker to become the prototype for Zaku. One of the original Scientist of the Zaku prototype defected to the Federation to help develop their own Mobile Suit and that resulted in the creation of the prototype Guncannon. Amor's Father was secretly one of the Scientist that was developing the OG Gundam.

Yes other Zeon MS like Zaku and more are able to destroy themselves with their own weapon if need be We have seen it before 2: the RX-78[G]E Gundam EX piloted by [Gundam Pilot RFV] a prototype close, quarters combat MS developed from the RX-78-1 Prototype Gundam and develop into the RGM-79 GM [RFV] as you could clearly see this has better mobility armor weaponry and more compared to the Zaku II and Zaku Tank and other MS of its time equally they probably weren’t expecting a Beam weapon on a MS yet and I again you could see it shred it just destroyed the Zaku with no problem but sadly enough it was destroyed and the remaining information of this MS were lost so in return it was forgotten over the years that went by in U.C. This MS it has the [G] in the model number so it pretty much means that it is a ground type mobile suit just like for example the RX-79[G] Gundam Ground Type so this is a ground superior MS pacifically, just built for ground combat and it did not disappoint in my opinion

@ I mean, it makes perfect sense at this some Pacific Zeon soldiers at this point heard about the white Devil and how powerful it was with this one it did not disappoint though I still call BS on it losing at the end the scanners/sensors on the EX should’ve of picked up on the Gouf Custom coming at it from the back

Gundam comes before GMs. Gundams are like prototype testbeds for the federation. And GMs are the finished product. Even if the Gundam is more fancy, GMs are easier to mass produce. Gundams win battles, while GMs win wars
