Feeding in that situation is a mistake. Chub are hierarchical. Watch them feeding, and you'll see that the biggest fish in the shoal get first dibs on anything edible coming towards them. I know it's counter intuitive for a match angler not to feed, but your more likely to catch the bigger fish, if your hook-bait is the first thing they see.

I did close to 50 sessions last winter and feeding was 100% the best tactic.

@@MatchFishingFilms I only did half a dozen chub trips last winter. Got a 6lder in March, just a few miles from where you're fishing. Harpers Brook at Titchmarsh, and the Ise at Barton Seagrave are good for really big chub.

​@@MatchFishingFilms Wickstead Park lake is full of giant roach, there is no fishing, but if it floods or freezes, you can catch them in numbers from the river. I even had a grayling from the Ise once.

@@EddiePedalo me and Rob fished near Wicksteed a few years ago and caught so many roach. Lovely stuff. I saw on Wikipedia the ise held grayling! Didn't know if it was just a rumour
