whether or not we should be "trying" to contact a civilization more advanced than ourselves is a pointless conversation. If they are more advanced than us, they will discover us before we discover them, so in basically every scenario of a hostile or friendly civilization meeting us, they will find us before we find them. If they have found us already (what I strongly believe); and if they wanted to harm us, then they would have done so already.

A gripe I have with the voyager plaque is that, when decoded, it presents writing written from left-to-right and top-to-bottom as per Western custom. Similarly, the arecibo message somewhat assumes that you will arrange its pixels in a certain order. Ideally, a pictorial message sent to alien lifeforms should be constructed asymmetrically with regards to the order in which it is to be interpreted, and symmetrically everywhere else so order doesn't matter. I propose a spiral, which can only be read in two possible directions: from the outside spiraling in, or the inside spiraling out. Mirroring the message and attaching the mirror to the end means you will get the same thing, no matter which direction you read it from.

Most violent and imperialistic civilisations have a high chance of killing themselves off, however some may survive and if we did encounter one it would be very dangerous. What if they were like ants formed into a hyper colony spanning many systems and worlds whose objectives are to endlessly expand? It’s not a very complex idea to follow, like humans prefer, however it could easily remain if the the right type of civilisation were to advance. They would be interested in the habitable nature of our planet greatly and would make many efforts to take it since it would likely require little to no terraforming. We may also be seen as a potential threat so it would be best to kill us all. Ants are very efficient and so an interstellar civilisation based on this would be able to kill us with swift ease. They would likely have many systems under their control. There are likely none near to us since we would probably detect them. This is because they have a limited amount of free thought so innovations would come slowly and they would probably remain using radio signals as long as it works, however they could go undetected if they transmit all information using lasers aimed directly at the target of information, leaving us with no way to listen in on them. If they developed a means to allow innovations more easily then they would become exceedingly advanced very fast. But then again, ants are always at war so they would have probably all killed themselves. That is unless they managed to unite as one singular colony over massive scales.

What if the first extraterrestrial lifeform is not hydrogen but methane-based. The first methane-oxidizing bacteria was discovered in 1906.. showing potential to reduce methane gases in our atmosphere. It would be homeostasis of our ecosystem, a symbiotic relationship if an extraterrestrial life form that is methane-based fixed our little global warming crisis.

@@alessandromangaXD the universe has just begun it's cycle. In terms of human time, the universe has been here for a long time. But in theory the universe has just been recreated. This isn't some kind of religion stuff, but scientists have a theory that the universe goes through a cycle, in which it begins with two black holes colliding with each other and spreading matter across the infinity of space, creating stars and dust and whatnot (big bang). And now the universe is here. In the future, stars will begin to burn out and die, the residue from dead stars creating new ones. Eventually this process will end, and all the stars will burn out. So the universe will be completely dark. As matter corrodes into dark matter, it creates black holes that begin ravaging the universe, swallowing the last of the dead stars. But eventually, those black holes will use up all of the energy in space and die out. From then on, the last two black holes in space will once again collide, beginning the process again. There is also a theory about multiple universes with different outcomes. And that there is some kind of time/space called the "multiverse" that houses all of these universes. And that we could possibly find a way to the multiverse and preserve ourselves while our universe is being reset. Keep in mind this is over the course of quintillions of years, probably more. Essentially making humanity (or whatever we become) able to cheat extinction. This is a theory made by actual scientists, and may or may not be true.

I was referring to being born in a time where we have the chance to explore the rest of the universe, or at least our solar system and founding colonies on other worlds. Who knows if we will manage to cheat extinction and death. I'm pretty sure about the second one, life expectancy is already growing exponentially, but I believe there are things in this universe we're just not quite meant to understand.

Watching this after listening to Bob Lazar, Cmdr David Fraver, and George Knapp on JRE. On the energy and travel topic, the foreign vehicles we have and are attempting to reverse engineer (all but confirmed by the Pentagon now) seem to be powered by gravity, or more appropriately, anti-gravity.
