This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. "Vietnam. It grabs you and doesn't let you go. Once you love it, you love it forever. I've been coming here since 2000, the first time I'd been in this part of the world, and it's held a special place in my heart and my imagination since. I keep coming back, I have to." - Anthony Bourdain

Really looking forward to your tour around Vietnam. I spent a couple weeks there almost exactly 22 years ago, which was towards the beginning of their tourist development. I’ll bet quite a bit has changed since then. Keep up the good work. Very excited to share the sites with you. All the best to you from San Diego California.

Thank you for a very enjoyable kick-off to the Vietnam adventure series. Crossing the street on foot in the old Hanoi quarter is an adventure in itself. Just keep going. Motorists, mostly bikers have a way of swirling past you as you cross the street. They move together like a school of agile fish . . . or a Canadian hockey team. Nice looking bike at a decent price! Ready to rock. Let it roll. Cheers. dcb

Not sure how actual this piece of information is, but we were told that it's best to register your SIM card at one of your carrier's shop (too) in Vietnam. They said that unregistered SIMs are sometimes locked down and the most reliable way to avoid that is to go through the registration in a carrier office. Although you might need all your hand-waving and drawing skills to convey this intent once you are there :) Can't wait to see more of this trip!

So happy you made it safe to Vietnam, Paddy. Thrilled to hear you chose this as your (and our) next big adventure and think you're going to adore Vietnam as much if not more than Thailand. I think you should plan for 3 months, not 2, Paddy, since there's so much I hope you show us, your virtual family. Also, I suggest the new name for 'new dreamy' as: "nằm mộng" which means, dreamy in Vietnamese, and just...fits the new Super Dream Honda to a T, and yes, "Family Vehicle" really fits what nằm mộng is now, us-your family, like steffi commented. Stay safe and enjoy, bro.

I'm Damien from Delhi, and have been working in China since 2006. So glad you made it to Vietnam, I've been following you for the last 3 years (since you started the channel). Best of luck and I hope you change your Tyres and tubes. Getting stuck in the middle of the country with a flat tyre and no kit to repair it, isn’t fun! I know from experience. I love Thailand and have been to the coastal areas and islands many times since 2007. Vietnam, I haven't been to and though I've seen many videos on it I'm dying to watch how you fare on your trip to the north and again to the South. I'd be honoured to meet you some day when things are better. Best wishes and a safe journey. Cheerio!

I’m in Thailand for two months and then I need to leave and do a border run , would you recommend going Vietnam for my first time and for my final month of this trip, if so where would you recommend, for safety and scenery
@MinhNguyen-ff6xf2 жыл бұрын
The Viets of course are less friendly than Thai because they’re more similar to East Asian culture (Chinese, Korean, and Japanese). Thailand has all Southeast Asian vibes, and the language itself makes speakers look like they smile all the time. I think traumatic incidents in the past make the Viets look serious all the time like Russians. if you experienced what they had to endure, you would understand
@MinhNguyen-ff6xf2 жыл бұрын
@@wbev_thai1666 I recommend Da Nang, Nha Trang, Da Lat, Sa Pa, Can Tho, and Saigon. You need to watch your belongings properly in Saigon because it’s a thief nest. Then, traffic is another issue. Besides those two problems, everything else is great
@johngagne9862 жыл бұрын
@@MinhNguyen-ff6xf Hi Minh. I think I should have said "more reserved" instead of less friendly. Please know I have always experienced wonderful people in my travels there.

Congratulations to your new adventure and the nice bike. I'm looking forward to all your videos of Vietnam. It is really much more lively compared to Thailand AND No Masks!!!! Vietnam has a French colony history as French Indochina, so that's why you have the Cathedrals and driving on the right hand side. That means quite a lot of spots for you to stop by.

Great to see you made it to Vietnam. Very excited to watch your new adventure. Loved the entire Thailand series! Hope you have a blast Did you previously wreck a larger motorbike? I think you would be happily surprised with a 175cc or 150cc. I feel much safer going up and down mountains on something larger than a 125cc. Especially if you have a second person on the back or a lot of gear, bigger than 125cc is TOP.

Good choice of motorcycle dude. 👌Much better than a bigger "scary" bike, especially on the roads you travel and explore. ;) Easier to maneuver in traffic and *off road.* Cheaper to fix if anything goes wrong, cheaper to refuel, giving you more smiles per mile. If you hire a car in Vietnam, it comes with a driver. This avoids the dangers of foreigners crashing and driving on the wrong side of the road and killing people. It makes a lot of sense.
