First Day in San Juan, Puerto Rico Continued - HAL Nieuw Statendam - February 2020

We are having a great day in San Juan, Puerto Rico! There are several cool spots to visit and we are trying to get them all in in one day... so next up is the pigeon park... Yes, you come here to allow pigeons to land all over you. It was really cool as long as birds don't freak you out! It was hot... so we needed something to cool us down. The perfect was Senor Paleta for gelato and sorbet! Let me tell you... brownie pieces inside of an ice cream bar are to die for!!! Needing some A/C we head back to La Casita and while there grabbed a snack. Wings for Jason (of course) and pork tacos for Alisa. And we discover that Puerto Rico has the BEST pork we have ever tasted!!! Then we take a nice stroll through Old San Juan to get to our dinner reservation. On the rooftop of Hotel Milano is Punto De Vista where you can get a PR specialty, Mofongo (which Jason just cannot pronounce correctly). It is so good! Jason really regretted ordering those chicken wings... We watched the sunset from the rooftop and then made our way back to the ship.

Dude looks like a younger James Hetfield of Metallica, lol.. Love how much she loved the pork and seem to enjoy all things there. Puerto Rico is famous for having super delicious pork. Anthony Bourdain and Andrew Zimmerman that eats all kind of weird stuff both said they never tasted better pork than in Puerto Rico. Hope you guys had a great time. I love my Island of Puerto Rico. Every time I go for a visit it is just paradise to me...

Lol you will regret doing a cruise. Can’t go to Puerto Rico without making it your main destination for at least 4 days but 7 days is perfect. So many different really tasty food and things to do and beaches to go in my beautiful island 🏝

Been to Port Old San Juan on two cruises; port time was 4pm to midnight. Both times we walked up to CVS to stock up on anything we needed, and then right into Señor Frogs. One time was on July 4th... on the way back to the ship we watched fireworks. Good times 🥑🍹💃🏻

Orozco's on Avenida Ashford in the Condado area is the best mofongo place. Their house sauce is so good. Also the beach is only a block away from there!

I went to Puerto Rico last month and passed by that ice cream shop. I also went to Jungle Burger with my sister a couple years ago. I got a burger with "amarillito' sweet banana inside and yuca fries. It was good!!!!

1st, I want to say, Jason and Alisa, You're the the BEST!!!! My wife and I hope to one day sail with you. If they ever let us back on the water. :-( Loved the video, actually, Love all your videos. I was starting to wonder if you was ever going to post again. If you ever go back to P.R. which happens to be our favorite port, been there 4 times. You have to get your Mofongo from "Restaurante Raices" Just cross the street from the dock and walk maybe 2 blocks. We got it from a few different places, but no one does it better then Restaurante Raices. My favorite Mofongo is with Shrimp. My wife loves the one with Steak. Our friends always get the seafood and the veggie Mofongo . LOL, yeah...Veggie :-P Keep up the good work, and hope to sail with you one day. :-D

Mofongo is life and I generally don't care for plantains. Real Puerto Rico will change your life. San Juan is a fantastic and friendly city. I love it. Visit one of the rum factories if you can, if they re open after Covid

I know I am not alone in saying I'm in need of a cruise so bad right now, but I will take cruising through Alisa and Jason video right now. Carnival Mardi Gras group cruise is 211 days away. Puerto Rican pork aka pernil is amazing, thankful that mt Puerto Rican mother taught me how to make it. Love that you both are opening trying local foods from the ports you visit but I have to say, mofongo taste nothing like corn/cornflakes or cornbread....maybe it was just that restaurant. Fun video as always. Can't wait to visit my beautiful island next May

Nice. Down from the Pigeons Park there is beautiful walkway (Paseo La Princesa) that takes you to the bay waterfront promenade along the old city walls, all the way into the fort (El Morro). The paletas are really good; passion fruit and soursop (guanabana) are my favorites. Mofongo could be presented in many different ways! Ugly roof top view from that place but I'm glad you enjoyed the food. Do you let people around you (restaurant) know that you are vloging? See several uncomfortable faces there.

You guys are hilarious. Awesome video. That was not authentic Puertorican food. Only the mofongo is authentic. You guys need to hit up Guavate for pork. Stuffed mofongo with conch meat is my favorite. Good food and good drinking in Puerto Rico.

YOU GET THE PORK CHOUTHER YOU HAVE TO SEASON IT WITH A LOT OFF SMASH GARLIC, A LOT OF SALT AND PEPPER, SMASH OREGANO, CUMIN AND LET IT SIT FOR 3 DAYS IN THE FRIDGE, THEN SLOW COOK AT 350 FOR 4 HOURS AND ON COVER FOR ONE MORE HOUR

was at that same restaurant at the Milan Hotel, at the same table, first week in Feb 2020. We split an order of Mofongo since they were so large and heavy. We got the chicken and shrimp with garlic sauce and oh man.....delicious. The elevator was also broken when we went and we climbed the 4 flights but well worth it. thanks for reminding me what an awesome time we had when they were experiencing the earthquakes too!, Forgot about that.
