Nightlife on the Nieuw Statendam - World Stage & Music Walk - February 2020

It is our first full day on Holland America Line’s Nieuw Statendam and it’s time for dinner and some nightlife. We decide on the buffet for dinner because they are having an amazing surf & turf dinner with so many cuts of meat and seafood to choose from. We were very happy with our choice as everything we tried was great.
Then it is show time! HAL has a unique theater in that you are surrounding the stage but you have digital screens surrounding you, so the show is all around you. This was a dance group who took a variety of musical styles and combined them with dance and screen projections, that were even on the floor! Watch the rain and the paint!!
The heart of the ship is the Music Walk and we bounced back and forth between two of the venues tonight. The Rolling Stone Rock Room has a live rock band every night! They are fun and they are loud... not what you would expect on a ‘geriatric’ cruise huh?? And right across is Billboard Onboard which is the dueling piano bar. They each play 45 minute sets and when one is over the next immediately starts right up! We had so much fun!!

I miss cruising and cannot wait for it to come back in full swing! I believe after everything is settled down and with the new programs being figured out and put in operation of cleaning standards and keeping the cruise industry safer and better than ever its going to be all fun times again. Cruising has been my vacation of choice for 13 years now. Itll happen 😀

What I like about HAL is that it’s a very chill and relaxing cruise experience. if you wanna party you can go out and find places to party. Compared to Carnival, which I like also, everywhere is a party and you have to go seek out relaxing places. My introverted self enjoys a nice book facing the ocean with more of a relaxing ambience 😁.

HAL is our favorite! Elegant relaxed ambiance! We took my mother in law on 3 cruises. She loved them. Really the only vacation that was easy on us too. She was in a wheelchair and we were even able to use the tenders. The staff was wonderful. They would carry her on and then put the wheelchair on after. Same going back. She did not have to miss anything. I don't think other ships do that. Amazing food, service and entertainment! Along with places to relax and read! What is not to love. Large staterooms too!

Loved this Cruise Ship. It's very relaxing and we enjoyed the show as well. We Danced the night away at BB King every night 😂😂. The food was very delicious 😋. Can't wait to Cruise again. Glad to see that you and Jason had a great time. We can't wait to Cruise again. Thanks for sharing.

I cannot wait to spend some evenings at the Rolling Stone Rock Room! That was not on K'dam when I was on her; although, BB Kings was fantastic. While nothing will compare to Syd's, I really enjoy HAL's music walk and everything being so close and you can get variety. I'm so glad we did not do the handless duck farts on the group cruise, that would have resulted in some adultish blackmail videos, haha!

I think HAL seems like it could be my jam. I’m early 50’s but this ship seems to be a nice mix of fun night life without all the craziness I have experienced on other cruise lines I have sailed. It seems like a nice mixture of a relaxed yet vibrant atmosphere. I need to get on a HAL ship hopefully soon!! And hopefully to Alaska.

Wow! Even the dancing show was good! Better than others I have seen at HAL ships. I see you left out BBB King. I bet you had another amazing time with them. Even if you are not a classical music fan, hope you gave time to them too, their performances were amazing, another kind of vibe. PS sometimes the have "happy hour" at night too (BBB).

We are avid cruisers and our youngest daughter (now 14) has been in many different kids program (Celebrity, Princess, Royal Caribbean, Carnival, Holland America) and Club HAL was her absolute favorite. She still talks about how much fun it was - and she was 7 when we last cruised with HAL.

I like Carnival and want to try another cruise line but I'm so close to Platinum I got to stick it out. I wish Carnival's food was better. This ships food looks great so does Norwegians. Love the videos. Thanks

OMG, love those drinks service buttons, the food, and the music looks great, I definitely need to take a Holland American cruise, and the theater is nice but have to agree with Jason NCL is better with their broadway show style, keep the videos coming!

I like carnival cause : good prices for , 7 & 8 days / Also do 8 days south from ft. lauderdale - Miami & Also does : 8 days eastern st. martin , st. kitts , san Juan & grand turk

Completely off subject but I noticed awhile ago you guys got braces. Do you have the clear ones on top? If you do you can’t see them, including the wire! I am getting mine on this next month. I am so nervous! I think I’m going to do the clear on top too. Are you happy with your decision to get adult braces?

Yes we are absolutely glad we did it! We had Invisalign on our tops and we just recently got finished with those! Still have the bottom braces for probably another year! I would definitely recommend you do it because you will be so happy you did!

The BB King Blues Club was my favorite venue on the Westerdam and Zuiderdam. Does Nieuw Statendam have it, or did Rolling Stones replace it?

Yes it does have the BB King Blues Club in addition to the Rolling Stones Rock Room and Billboard club! We will feature the BB King Blues Club in some of our upcoming videos in this series! BB king Blues Club was so much more fun and quickly became our favorite for dancing!
